$60 Rebate

Very nice, far w/o upgrade rebate.

The B/M price is $29.99 today.

any upgrade rebates???

Picked one up last night. Thanks OP!

There are two upgrade rebates. One is $45 for 2007 version and one is $30 for 2008 version. The rebate offers does not specify which one is for which version, but you can tell from the valid dates. Be careful to avoid the risk of denial.
The $60 rebate is not in McAfeerebates' database and the offer number looks different from the "07-xxxxx" although it said on the form to check the status at McAfeerebates.com. I just have too many internet security make money deals lately and don't want to take this $60 risk.

Is this good compared to Kaspersky IS or Norton IS?

I found a PDF of the $30 upgrade rebate here (scroll down to near the bottom of the page and click on mfr. upgrade mail-in rebate)
The offer # is 0709-72342. Is this offer # the same as the one that is showing up on mcafeerebates.com? It seems like this should be a valid offer for this product.

Probably not as good as Kaspersky or Norton.

in for one, thanks!

In 4 1. Thanks OP

Rebate amount paid to customer for single or
combined rebate offers may not exceed the purchase price of the McAfee product.

Anyone notice that on the $30 upgrade rebate? I don't remember seeing that on 07 rebates. So looks like no double dipping anymore on Mcafee.

I wonder what's this 3 user edition mean? Can be installed in 3 computers? But I usually can install 1 user edition in 3 computer in my home.

you are only really supposed to install to one system unless you purchase additional licenses. These companies are taking into consideration that many homes have more than 1 computer, so now they are legally allowing you to install to 3 systems.

good deal op

But the most confuse thing is the normal edition(1 user) can be installed in 3 computers, that make things no different. Maybe this 3 user one can register 3 account in mcafee?

I'm pretty sure it has always been there. And they never notice that you have submitted both rebates (at least they never have), so I doubt they will reject the $30 rebate.

Can anyone tell me how I can get the upgrader rebate if I don't have the previous version or a competitor's product?

psychoboy8119 said: Can anyone tell me how I can get the upgrader rebate if I don't have the previous version or a competitor's product?Find a competitors product that is FAR (this is NOT difficult to do). Is this really that difficult? If you don't own the competitors product, you do not qualify for that rebate. And it isn't even like you NEED to get the upgrade rebate to make this deal free.

Thanks, true, I don't need to get the upgrader rebate, but if all it takes is fill out a little form and send it out for a possible 30 bucks, why not right? Anyway, thanks for your help.

You can't link from the Parago rebate websites, it does not work. You need to give the program #. I suspect it is for the 2007 product and will not work. This has already been covered here. And the CA money machine is being curtailed, in case you haven't read the current news in other threads.

Thanks OP.....this is about number 22 of the free security software
programs I've bought in the last 3 months.....never seen so much of
this stuff being given away.

Guess they use the Peachtree software business model.

Really? This is pretty standard for them to all offer it FAR from time to time.
Guess they use the Peachtree software business model. Actually, the Peachtree model is to get your name for their mailing list to sell additional services and make money on the float for a few months while they wait to pay your rebate. The security software model is to get you to install it when it's FAR and sell you the renewal in future years.

Your right....I've bought so many Peachtree programs over the years that
their snail mail is constantly clogging my mailbox.....and the security
software nobody renews since they know they can get it free, why pay.

Anybody can help to upload the original rebate pdf? The current one on the web shows required purchase date of 10/24 to 11/1. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. Why don't you just look at www.mcafeerebates.com? It's there (finally), the offer # is 0710-85018, but you could have found it by searching on the product/store/date. I mailed in the hardcopy (I gave up waiting for it to show up online) but it got processed and showed up in less than a week, anyway.

Next time, I strongly suggest saving/printing the rebate form when you buy the item.

Oh, and it's FAR again this week.

Hi, could someone help please. I bought this to put my infected PC out of misery. However, my software did not come with a CD KEY. I searched everywhere inside and on the box but none to be found. Should I contact frys or Mcafee? The UPC has been torn off and sent away with the rebate form. Please help. Thank you

p/s: Shouldnt the CD KEY stick on the cover of the CD? The cover of my CD is plainly white.

Did you try to install it yet? I've never seen McAfee products come with CD keys (which does beg the question why would you pay more for a 3 user edition when there is no way to restrict you from installing the single user edition 3 times. I guess they figure people want to be legal).

PS my upgrade rebate showed up as invalid with some ridiculous "missing address" rejection, which is amusing since I had pre-submitted it. Anyway, I emailed them and they approved it. Now, I am not sure if this was their way of rejecting it because I had already been approved for the $60 rebate (there is some evidence of their using bogus rejection codes for the CA stuff bought at the wrong place). If others get the same rejection, maybe we'll know.

Guys if you have not done the $45 upgrade rebate before for the 2007 version, you can try send it in for this one. The rebate center does approve it subject to household limit.

That $45 Upgrade/Competitive rebate was 1+ year old (Valid Purchase Dates: 08-14-2006 through 12-31-2007)

True FWers would have all claimed that rebate long long long ago (unless co-workers/friends/relatives addresses are to be used)

12/31/07 has not happened yet, so it's still valid.

Did you claim that $45 Upgrade/Competitive rebate ?

anybody has this rebate form? will appreciate!

on frys.com website it's already replaced with oct24 one.

If others get the same rejection, maybe we'll know.It appears that I got one of the more diligent people processing my upgrade rebate. I got a "exceeds household reward amount limit" rejection on mine. When I emailed Parago, the CSR responded that single or combined rebate offers cannot exceed the purchase price. So, it looks like Parago might be starting to be more careful about validating rebates. Given that this was my only failure during this year's rebate free-for-all, and the product was free after the $60 rebate anyway, it's no big deal.

Interesting. It sounds Parago has somehow re-programmed their computers to check all rebate offers for a particular item purchase and to make sure that the total doesn't exceed the original purchase price. In the past, as long as the offer numbers were different, they had no way of cross-referencing the multiple rebate offers for the same item. Parago is definitely getting smarter, not just with McAfee but also with CA (they no longer allow you to search for CA offers by product/store/date, so now you have to know the offer number in order to get the rebate).

I as well got "excess household limit" on my $30 upgrade rebate. After emailing mcafeerebates.com, it was now "valid and scheduled for final processing" under "McAfee Appeasement/Exceptions Promotion". I haven't claimed this $30 upgrade rebate before.

The $60 (essential) rebate was also "valid and scheduled for final processing". Problem-free.
