OK, for those of you who want to watch the South American FIFA World Cup qualifiers, here's a little guide on the available options: 1. PPV regular TV This option is through Dish Network Price per game: $29,99 Discounts (see site for details): 4-game package: $59,99 16-game package: $159,99 2. PPV online This option is through an Internet TV website called JumpTV.com Price per game: $13,95 (in Spanish, English or Portuguese) Discounts (see site for details): if you purchase a 4-game package, there's a 25% discount (through Oct. 12) if you purchase a single game, there's a 10% discount with the code ELIMINATORIAS07 3. Closed circuit: Available at selected bars. Here in SoCal they normally charge around $20. For a complete list of participating establishments see here: List of participating bars 4. Regular TV: Some games will be available for FREE on GolTV (a soccer channel). Check here for a list of those games: Games on GolTV Keep in mind that if a game is available on GolTV, it won't be available through Dish Network or in closed circuit 5. Through Orb (Streaming TV from home): I actually haven't tested this alternative yet, but I don't see why it would not work. Here's the deal: As you may know, you can stream TV through Orb: TV streaming through Orb; so the idea would be to have someone in South America, do the whole TV tuner setup and sign up for an account with orb. Then you sign in to that account here in the US, and start your MyCasting. Since these games are available in public TV in South America, all you have to do is switch to a channel that broadcasts the games. Thats's it. Now, what do you need? well, basically a TV tuner card is all you need. Oh! and obviously someone in South America that can do the setup for you. 6. P2P: Thanks Izpoof for the heads up. There are P2P services that offer LIVE sports channels online. This is not Internet TV, this is regular TV streamed LIVE through the Internet. There's a website (www.myp2p.us) specialized in all kinds of sports. It lists all the P2P sports channels where you'll be able to watch a specific game. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. If you have any other alternatives, please PM me and I'll list them here. Good luck people, and enjoy the games! (Edit: added option 6) |
