I got a letter by mail with an offer for FIOS Tripple Freedom (5/2 Mbs Internet, TV, PHONE) for 99.99 per month plus 100 USD AMEX gift card after first month of service and another 100 USD AMEX gift card in a year. Two year contract required. I have called to ask about this offer and asked about getting faster internet for extra money and the customer service lady said that they are running a special and she can include a 20/5 mbs internet for the same 99.99 price for two years! A great deal, I would say, for the blazing fast speed internet! My installation is scheduled November 7. Other fees/charges - one time activation fee 19.99, HDTV box 9.99 per month, SDTV box 3.99 a month, free isntallation up to 3 TV's and one PC, they give tou free router. I am in Montgomery County, MD and the phone number on the letter is 1-866-295-2009, there is no offer code, just mention 200 USD AMEX gift cards and ask about 20/5 mbs internet promotion.

I would not use the exact world as above comment, but I do identify with it for the frustration. Anything comes in 2yrs lock-up, especially with verizon, I am hesitate...

Anyone have the fios tv? I've read on the interweb that the dvr software stinks. I have comcast now, and like it very much, but might switch for this deal. I just don't want to get stuck with some crappy dvr.

I'm not necessarily excited over the "deal," but I would love to get FIOS instead of cable.

I do not have FIOS (see my post above) but my friend who does have it, use to use T1vo, now she is using the dvr from verizon, and she seems VERY happy with it, something about multi-room viewing, and she has sold all her T1vos, I think she had 4 before.

The original DVR release blew, but v2.0 that they are rolling-out nationally now seems to be much better. It probably can't be worse than Cox... Time Warner always had great IPGs though.

Comcast DVR software is so monumentally bad that anything would be a step up.
The FIOS DVR is much better than Comcast, but is not nearly as good as TiVo, if that help.

No, comcast is good. I heard Fios sucks. Glad to hear they are releasing an update. I will call to confirm the update is available for me.

Ive had the fios triple play for 5 months now in md. That sucks that they are just now coming out with free gift cards for signing up. I guess i missed out on that.
On that note, I pay 10 bucks extra a month to get 15/2 speeds. I wonder if i can call up and get the upgrade to 20/5 for free.

Wow, how can it possibly get any worse than a cable box? Apparently you haven't had satellite before. At least in my Time Warner area, they use the Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC - there is no way to customize the guide, among other things.
I also got FIOS installed today, but I can only get the double play (20/5 and phone). Working nicely. My deal is "$50" per month which equals a $75 bill each month, including taxes, line charges, FCC charges, new car for the CEO charges, etc.. I wonder how much this $100 package will be per month...
I just signed up also, they are offering a "19 lcd tv or a $200 gift card for WorstBuy in my area for the same deal. I am in New York. I am taking the 200 gift card and will use it towards a Hidef or blue ray player. They actually were ready to install today, and I called them yesterday...that is fast. I had to say no, I want it done on a Saturday.

fyi, FIOS just announced a 20/20 plan today for $64.99. Not sure if this is bundled with any other packages.
The new plan has maximum download and upload speeds of 20 megabits per second. It will cost $65 per month with an annual contract for those who have a Verizon phone plan, or $5 more for those without. By raising the upload speed, Verizon is taking advantage of the capacity of fiber optics in a way that's very hard for cable companies to replicate. The cable service involves sharing capacity among neighbors.
The plan is available initially in Verizon's New York, New Jersey and Connecticut FiOS service areas, which are mostly suburbs. In those areas, Verizon faces competition from the country's most sophisticated major cable company, Cablevision Systems Corp., and it's generally where Verizon raises FiOS speeds first.

Still, good deal if you can get it. If their web sit pre qaulifies you when you enter you phone number or adr, then IT IS available, and the rep is WRONG. P.S. I think UPS is the best delivery out there.
mindaugasl said: draughwurt said: is this for new or existing subscribers?
I did not ask, however by my experience that kind of offers ufortunately are available to the new subscribers only, but call and check.
I have FIOS internet and cable TV and i received this triple play offer in the mail. So this is not just for new customers. I currently rent now and i am not sure what will happen if i move to a place were FIOS is not available. I did ask them about this situation when i extended my internet contract and the CSR said i will not have to play the early termination fee if i move to a place where they cannot offer their service.
And also can anyone, who has triple play, tell how much their bill is with all the fee.
My bill rite now is 34.99(internet) + 39.99(cable) + 13.99 (HD DVR), my bill with all the fee is aroung 96 to 97.
HD cable on FIOS is really good (my friends who have Timewarner told me). DVR is ok but not bad mine is Motorola 6XXX
I wish they had a package deal for me. I have Voicewing, Verizon Cellular, FIOS TV and FIOS internet. It sucks that you MUST have a verizon land line to get a package deal.

Sounds like it is still best to wait a little before getting Fios if you are worried about picture quality and the dvr software. Hopefully they will fix this soon. And do away with the required contract. That's ridiculous! Comcast has them beat right now due to their dvr and no need for a contract.

Don't fool yourself into thinking that. My address pre-qualified, and it took 1yr and 1 month of wrangling with Verizon to get it because I was a few houses away from the end of the fiber light, and they had to run new fiber in another direction to reach the other side of my development, but first it required approval from the county commission, etc. Secondly, the agents even said i qualified, but when they came to do the install, they did it.... and nothing happened. I had to deal directly with the dig crew burying the fiber. So, The website AND CS ain't the end all...
This should be disturbing. A guaranteed rate increase after your first year or two. Then what are you going to do when the copper is gone? Only choice would be cable.

Anyone know if you can get get rid of the HD Box, get an HD Tuner card for my Media PC and it will show HD? I know with comcast HD is an option you have to pay (I have basic servie, no digital) so throwing in an HD card would do nothing. Lucky folks! i'm spending well over $200 with Time Warner and AT&T to get all my services (internet, phone, tv). God I miss comcast (time warner took over) - I used to pay $99 plus taxes and other charges
I have the phone + internet "double play" for $65 plus tax. I just noticed this month the charge was up by $30, because my 1 year promotion ran out. I called to complain, but even before I started, the rep gave me another year of same deal. I think their running out of HD boxes played some role in the new attitude--it was never this easy...
