well, picked up 20 today for $0.20 total!!

i originally got 10, but then i figured i might as well get 15. so i went the register and she started ringing them up for the penny, so i grabbed 5 more!!

alert mods

if they only cost a penny each then what is the real value behind these giftcards anyway?

maybe I should buy 101 to beat the last guy who bought 100?

non-acetone nailpolish remover works great, the front comes off using just a paper towel and the remover, the back you need a rough sponge but also works fine...no melting at all

THE BEST WAY TO GET THE ROBOT AND WRITING ON THE BACK OFF IS.....

USE

DAWN power dissolver....Came out beautiful. It looks brand new, the plastic is still smooth and shiny. I sprayed a little on the sponge, and then put the foam on the card, being careful not to oversaturate. It dissolved within seconds and then I wipped it clean.

Dawn power dissolver is available in blue bottle in grocery store (near dishwasher detergent, etc.)
. I tried Power Dissolver with NO luck. Did not phase the ink at all. Smells clean though. Even dripped it directly on and let it sit 30 minutes. Nothing. Hmmm.

Yeah I think the guy that was using the Power Dissolver was using the scrubbing side of the sponge which was what was really doing the work.

Got 10 at 25 cents each. The cashier kept threating to ask the manager when I try 1 cent so I said what the heck. 25 cents is still really cheap for these. May go back for some more today.

I got 15 with 1 dollar each...u think I can use all 15 on a online pick up order?

Got a couple from my bestbuy and love them. I'd like to play around with modding them with an external power supply and maybe a motion sensor... though I don't have a lot of experience with it. Does anyone have any advice on the type of power supply I would need (obviously 3volts, but what about amps etc)? I assume the motion activation hack would be a little more tricky but I'll take any tips for that too.

Thanks!

So I picked up 10 off the rack and get in line... Few people in front of me, so I wait a few minutes... Finally get in front of the cashier and "Oh, I can't ring up gift cards" Ummm, ok?
So I jump into the other line, only this time the wait is longer because the cashier is a 52 year old trainee! No biggie, hell, Im getting these for basically free anyway! So standing behind the trainee is a manager and some kind of employee trainer assistant girl who says "Ok, now we scan each one like this, right, and hit enter, good... Now..." (At this point she turns and looks at me) "How much do you want on this?" Without even blinking I look at her and reply quite firmly "One cent. Each." The look she gave me was absolutely priceless! Took awhile for the trainee to finally finish, and when the assistant hands me the bag she says "Is this a joke or something?"

"Only if the jokes on you... Thanks!"

Got another 14 tonight ( all they had)

Cashier started ringing them up at 1 cent each, then called a manager about the cards saying I was a 'collector' and can he just give them to me. He didn't get an answer right away and rang in 2 more before he got an answer on his headset. The cashier picked them all up and put them in a bag and handed them all to me, I tried to pay him for the 6 he scanned into the register, but he said he will just void it.

14 free --- great deal for me.

I just wanted to THANK all of you who appreciated my post. I really wasn't expecting this kind of interest - or all of your great ideas!

I just thought of it as a nice giveaway - from a store not exactly known for giving anything for free. Considering the fact that it's a "no limit" deal and can be picked up while shopping without going out of your way I thought I'd post it - expecting to get lot of red. Thanks for the green!

Uses single 3V lithium cell battery #2032.
Have not done a run test so I don't know how long it lasts.
The LEDs are arranged in a 7x21 array, overall display size is 15mm x 70mm.
On average it looks like the display fits around 4 characters but it depends on if you are using upper or lower cased characters.
You can store up to 6 different messages (only 1 can display at any one time.) First message can be up to 512 chars, the other 5 can be up to 255 chars.
There is a scrolling speed control (1 slowest - 9 fastest) that can be set.
No flashing setting.
Not sure how readable in sunlight. There is a luminance setting (1 dim - 9 bright).
There are three buttons on the back you use the up/down buttons to choose your character and then the Enter button to accept the character into your message.

current draw varies, but about 4-5ma MAX, so a 2032 battery (220mah) should last over 48 hrs.
