I switched to this in GA about 5 months ago. Ask for "Bundle 97". At least in GA, that's what the CSR's are familiar with. You have different levels of DSL service--basically the same as what they would offer you if you had the hard line. |

cyfan said:I did online chat yesterday with AT&T customer service person. She said they don't sell "naked DSL" to my area (Lawrenceville..north of Atlanta). Probably worth another try although Charter has $15 a month for 6 months without requiring cable TV service so I'm doing that. The lady I talked to online said it does not exist and there is no way it would exist. I sent her a exerpt from the FCC |

This works in Dallas, I called back on the 18th and CSR offered me the deal no problem. I just asked for "dry dsl" and he even gave me a modem FAR deal. I just got internet access on the 30th. |

Doesnt anyone have a number to call in Geogia (ATLANTA). The OPS number is for midwest. I've called it twice. The first time was early in the morning and I was on hold less than a minute. The second time was around 7pm EST and I had about a 3-min on-hold wait (I wanted to reschedule the date they performed the switch). So I've not had your problem. Try calling back at a less-busy time - it shouldn't be that bad. -Jax |

AT&T reps also will deny that they have a $10 a month DSL lite plan, but if you press them - I had to fill out an online form - a link will appear. I do not think it is naked tho. Really, the $10 plan is all I need at home with the T1 at work. Lets see if this forces Comcrap to bargain some. |

You guys/girls are genius'! Dry DSL would have been $29. My current DSL(3.0) is $25 and my phone was $10. They changed my phone to measured rate for $5/mth. Now DSL $25 + $5 Phone = $30/mth. $1 more a month and I keep a spare line. Thanks! |

Thanks! Dude you are forgetting about the taxes on a phone line. That $5 metered service becomes $12 metered service after all the taxes. I know, I have it. I just spoke to a genius AT&T CSR. I wanted to convert my phone line + DSL to dry loop. He couldn't understand how I could get dry loop if I had a phone. Then he would say that if I got dry loop, I wouldn't have a phone. I kept saying "I know" but he just kept repeating it. |

I got it done in SF Bay Area. I had to call about a gazillion numbers. The magic is to just ask for the cancellation department. They know the scoop. They will cancel you existing service and give you dry loop. You will loose service for a few days and there will be a credit check since they are setting up a new account. But it does work. |

Of course they're quoting you higher prices because they don't want you to get the lowest price. Just be persistent. Only took me about 30 seconds of talking to the CSR to get the rate I wanted. And actually, I got an email saying my rate is $13.22/month, starting yesterday. I checked and my land line is now turned off, and my DSL speed is still 1.5 Mbps. If that $13.22 price is real, this is a ridiculously good deal. |

After having the retentions dept search for about 20 minutes and conferencing the dry-loop dept, they were told although the plan is available, it is NOT offered in their area (only the bundle 97 dry loop plans). There are threads on www.dslreports.com that confirm this. Maybe West Palm Beach is included in the promotion? |

(San Francisco, CA) Called the number and rep said it's neighborhood specific, which I guess I confirmed. I tried my current address at zipcode 94121 (north of Golden Gate Park) and dry-loop service is NOT available... I tried my future address at zipcode 94116 (south of Golden Gate Park, about 1.5 mi away) and dry-loop service _IS_ available. Express (1.5mbps) is $23.99 and Pro (3.0mbps) is $28.99 as OP listed. I'm currently paying Pro + cheapest phone line and it still comes out to be $42-44 after all those taxes, so this will save me a bit when I move in a few months! |

Anybody from Broward able to get in? I wonder if it's just Palm Beach that can. Thanks OP. Now I can finally dump Comphia completely (I signed up with D* a couple weeks ago) and save some money. I hated their HD-DVR and they didn't offer the programming packages I wanted. The internet was good, but pretty high. This is a great plan if you can get in on it, and hopefully it works pretty good. |
