Quite awhile back I had ordered a eVGA 6600GT for some crazy cheap (at the time) price. Went OOS fast. Took quite awhile (almost a month if i recall correctly) but they still got the card to me. I did receive that reminder email with an ETA that they mention. Hope that helps you.

Easy dude, Micro Center is good, last time I got a Canon 30D kit at a wrong price (about $250 or $300 less than what it should be), and they knew the price was wrong when I called to check the backorder status, but they said they would honor that price, and still shipped it to me. Even better, they also offered me 3 free gifts. What can I say? I just love Micro Center.

Just want to take one minute of time to ask you if you work for MicroCenter? What you are saying is horseshit. They are the worse retailer when it's down to honor they low ball price offers.

There have been a couple times when Microcenter made a price mistake on an item that I purchased. The last time was over a year ago. In each instance, they made good on the transaction.

Oh, I don't work for them, in case you are interested.

I wonder if they still make you spell out street addresses if the street is a number. That used to bug me no end until I guessed at the solution.

Micro Center works for us if you were lucky as most of us. The only thing you can argue is that Micro Center will charge shipping fee, but it won't kill a big deal, especially a price mistake.

Is this a retail CPU (boxed, with heatsink), or OEM (tray, no heatsink, no factory warranty)?

The reason that I ask, is that all of the other Intel Core2 CPUs listed, specifically say "Boxed" in the title, and this one doesn't.

Btw, has anyone at all been actually able to get this deal, either in B&M or online?

I scored on this deal at the Cambridge, MA store. However, it was quite difficult. For some reason, the SKU on the ad is different than the one in stock. They checked things for about 30 minutes before giving me the CPU for that price. Of course, it turns out that I don't need it, so I'll be returning it.

It looks like we have not received a shipment from Intel and it looks also that they informed to us they will not be sending another shipment due to the product is discontinued. We are currently trying to source this product elsewhere for you.

Ok, I just ordered five ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP motherboards for a total of $734.90 here: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10005280

I was going to order five Intel E4500s for $99 but Microcenter pulled the item from the site. What do I do now?
Are there any other good replacement CPUs or other deals? I'd like each CPU to cost no more than $130.

New Egg, Zip Zoom Fly, and ClubIT all have the 4500 for right around 127 shipped. Might not be 99 bucks but it is under 130

E4600 replaces the E4500. It's running about $20 more than the E4500 but should come down in price to $130+/- soon. The only difference from a quick look at the specs is that E4600 packs 64KB for L1 cache and E4500 (and most of the E6xxx series) have 32KB L1 cache on the chip. I don't know if that is going to make a difference in performance.

You mean 32KB to 64KB. Not MB. I dont know of any chips with that L1 cache that would be that large.

An update for those still waiting on these since they have been on backorder.

A CSR I just spoke with said I am in the last 5 out of 40 people in the cue for these. Most orders are for 1 each, but there is one person who ordered 40 and one who ordered 20. They are still trying to get some, but have been buying them 1 at a time to fill orders. After 30 days, all unfilled orders will be cancelled automatically.

I just got a ship notice from MicroCenter for the one I ordered. Took almost 2 weeks for them to ship it but got a good deal.

I hate microcenter.

I received the shipping notice at 12:41pm CST, just 10 minutes after I got an E2180 cpu from Newegg. I bought the E2180 two days ago because I thought microcenter would eventually cancel my order. I called microcenter before I made my purchase of E2180. They told me they had no idea when or whether my order would be fulfilled.

Now here is a dilemma: If I return the E2180 to Newegg, I have to paid 15% (~ $13.5) restocking fee + return shipping. Or I can cancel/refuse the delivery of the E4500 from microcenter. What should I do? Which one is more overclockable?
