Just came back from local Costco (Bay Area, CA) and they have the 10-pack 60W fluorescent bulbs for $1.50 after instant discount of $12.50. Original price is $13.99. They also had 6-pack 100W fluorescent bulbs (uses 23 watts) for $5.50 after instant discount.

Go green and give me some green

Which location? If this is in Austin, TX I'll give you green.

This was in Bay Area, CA. They had Stacks and Stacks of these bulbs. PG&E is promoting the instant rebates for using eco-friendly bulbs.

Great deal for those of us in CA, but you should put that in your title if you want to avoid the red. These are definitely heavily subsidized by PG&E.

Exactly, most of these deals at Costco in CA is subsidied by P&E. For those in Chicago area, Ace have same deal a few weeks ago which subsidied by ComEd

Updated the title. Is Costco known to carry local deals? I thought all costco locations have the same price.

These deals, subsidized by power companies, can vary by state. No, they are not all the same everywhere at all
when it comes to these items, and like was mentioned, put CA or California in the title.

They sure do. You may have noticed that in previous years (and hopefully this year too), Costco in the Bay Area carried lift tickets for Kirkwood at Tahoe during the winter. I don't think too many people in the rest of the country would be too interested. Many items are nationwide, sure, but they do add some regional flavors to their stock.

Moved to TN from CA. No such subsidies here. However electricty rates are about half $.08 KWH in TN vs $.17KWH in Orange County.

I bought the Feit Electric bulbs at Costco in Utah a month ago with an instant rebate from RMP. They are ok, but not as good as some I bought from Home Depot. They take part of a second to turn on and a minute or so to warm up, but for the cost, it is still a great deal.

wow, I have so many left over from the last deal at albertsons (3 for 99c) but I can't resist. If my store has it I'll pull the trigger! Thanks OP!

I replaced 10 bulbs of 60w incandescents with 13w cfls. However, I added 30 more lamps to my house to make up the difference. I think it's too bright right now though.

So it is not per se YMMV. It is more like YMWV if you are not served by PG&E.

If you replaced 10 and added 30 more, your electric bill is not likely to decrease much.

Reminds me of the ever decreasing long-distance/international phone rates over the last 30 years. The cheaper the rates get, the higher is my long-distance/international phone bills.
