I think this should remain separate from the other thread which doesn't contain the coupon and no one is really talking much...
Wish I'd waited instead of getting it at launch Edit by Moderator: Thank you for participating in the forums. However, this topic has been covered in a recent post Here.

I wonder if FW would still be a day behind if DBs like yourself, that obviously monitor both sites regularly, posted something useful instead of this crap.
MrStank said: Lagging about a day behind SD as usual... Well, since CAG had it posted 2 days before SD. Why don't you go b*tch and moan over at SD about them being late as well?
conehead433 said: Is it true that the PS 3 doesn't upconvert regular DVDs.
it does. i've had mine since launch and it didn't initially, but since firmware version 1.6 or so it has supported upconversion. very good upconversion in fact.. the videophiles on avs forums have compared it to the oppo upconverting players..

There's no more 5 free BluRay movies with the purchase of a PS3?
This might be YMMV depending on if you get a dumb cashier or not. I went to my local Kmart to buy it and the stupid cashier said she wasn't sure if the PS3 qualified and called over the manager. The manager said I couldn't use it on the PS3, and i couldn't get him to change his mind.

Heck we come up with deals first here all the time.. im curious to know if fw members hang out at sd just to type "it was at fatwallet for a week" (like sd people do here) or do we have too much class to do that there?
Hell we come up with new stuff (first) here all the time.
Hmm...should I pull the trigger now that the price is $320...

it also gives you enough time to get in on the 5 movies by mail if you decide to keep it as that needs to be postmarked by 2/29

A couple people over at SD claimed to have used a printed copy. Of course, it's going to be YMMV.

I have no PS2 games, and I will not buy any. It uses something like 35 percent less power,Blu-ray, Plus it still has wi-fi built in. I was able to get mine from SonyStyle for $417 shipped and $100 credit in 4 to 6 weeks. No interest, no payments for a year so 6 weeks is no big deal to get a $100 back. Its worth $317 shipped. Oh I forgot, the 5 movies, Spiderman in the box, and the points off the purchase will let me get 2 more blu-ray movies through SonyStyle.

If you want to play PS2 games, then buy a PS2. Why would you spend $400 on a system just to play PS2 games, when you can get a PS2 for $100. THAT has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.
Because, I don't understand the need to hook up ANOTHER video game system. I got to have the PS2 and the PS3 sitting there, adding inputs to my stereo, irritating my wife at an already complex home theater setup???
True, if I buy an Xbox 360, I would have to leave the PS2 hooked up anyway, but it is the point. Sony did not focus on ease of use for the consumer, it is just markup opportunity after markup opportunity. While all manufacturers create markup opportunities (there's what? 3 different price levels for the Xbox 360), this one is an obvious freebie.
That having been said, this is a great deal, I was considering it until I saw the "no PS2 compatibility"

It is a simple replacement, pull it out and put the new one in. They are 2.5", laptop HDDs.
Also don't sell your 40GB, save it. If your system ever fails and needs to be mailed to $ony, you need to mail everything, controller, power cable, AV cables, USB charge cable, and the old HDD must be in your console. They must have everything to replace it.

Just beat your wife and tell her to deal with it, or if you are that P-whipped, quit playing outdated consoles. PS2 doesn't have that many great games to offer anyway. I have both XBOX 360 and PS3, and I don't play old games on either of them. Whats the point of next-gen if you keep playing old school games. I hardly have time to play my new games, let alone old games.

Because, as any person would realise, why should I have to set up TWO systems to play my catalog of games when the ONE newer one should be backward compatible to allow it. Don't be an idiot.

Should have gotten the 60gb one...better backward compatability
Got the 80GB because I dont have a PS2 and dont have any interest in using it to play PS2 games, primarily bought it as a bluray player, but the biggest reason I got it is because it was a great deal. Already have a Xbox360 and Wii, and I cant seem to find enough time to play them all
