I'm well aware of the E280, I have one, looking for another for my wife and at this price it's excellent. $60 more for the newer version, nah? Still looking for link or scan to show Costco's price on 11/23-11/25

well
1) The E280 has a microSD slot as well. It's not a new feature on the View 2) The 2 main functional differenes between the e280 and the View are the physical (screen size and button layout) and the difference in video format support (The view uses WMV,MPEG4, h264)
dang i wish i could cancel my order at woot, too bad it's already shipped, $50 n something for 6 more gig and brand new instead refurb

It's a pretty good price for a 8 gig player. I have the e270 with 6 gigs myself but I don't use it too much. If you even delete or add one song the whole database needs to be rebuilt and that takes minutes. It won't display asian languages either like chinese gb, big5 korean or japanese unless you flash the firmware w/pacific version. And even if you flash it it won't display all asian languages at once. Only one kind at a time. So in summary it is only good for western languages.
Rebuilding the database any time a change is made is a pain. Especially as you add more music, even the slightest change triggers a rebuild that can take up to 2 minutes next time you turn it on.
Other than that, it's a great player. I paid a lot more for mine and still think it was well worth it.

This is a sweet deal for a flash player... now I just have to decide between the sporty little coupe (flash) or the carry-it-all SUV (HDD player, probably a Zune)... decisions
this is a great price for this. i recently got one on Amazon when it was down to 115 and i'm loving it (especially now that i've replaced the crap earbuds that come with it).
software issues can be circumnavigated by loading Rockbox on it - a great free program that is especially nice after you've changed the theme and got a hang of it (much more feature rich than the original gui). Plus loading up Rockbox does not get rid of the original GUI, you can switch back whenever you'd like.
one draw back of the new series which is replacing the 200 series is that they no longer come with a user replaceable battery.

I believe you are correct. The other great part is that you can load up ROCKBOX on the e200 and play just about anything What exactly does DRM keep you from doing?

well if they port Rockbox then DRM won't matter anyway. And I assume it should be an evolutionary rather than revolutionary thing to port it up the chain to the view.

Schmungy said: what is max capacity MicroSD this will accept? doesn't mention this in the online user manual. Well, since the e280 doesn't support SDHC you can safely assume 2GB max. The latest Sansa View is more flexible at that.

If you ROCKBOX it ( e280) it will be SDHC compatible, as will the whole 'e200' series.
After installing the ROCKBOX FIRMWARE, these units become SDHC compatible. So the new answer is 8GB, biggest card available at the moment in micro SDHC

I don't know why peopel keep comparing the 2 players anyway as you are there. They really aren't the same kind of player. They're both SD but the View from what I've seen is significantly larger, not zunesized larger but still significantly. I think there's space for both models in the lineup.
I was at my local CostCo today and they did not have any in stock and could not verify if they were going to be getting any for this Friday. No one at the store knew anything about the player even though it was in the ad.
Sandisk is getting cheap. This package does not come with an AC charger. You can only charge via the USB cable. I bought one about 2 years ago from Amazon (I think) and it come with both a USB cable and AC charger.
