For those of you who collect Longaberger they are having a 24 hour sale on the spring basket today only. It is $29. Once you add the liner and protector it is over $50. For those of you who think it is crazy to pay that much for a basket, hey, at least it is made in America! www.longaberger.com and it is a pretty good deal for this company.

I used to be a huge Longaberger collector for years and was always told they were an "investment" and their value would only go up. Guess what - it didn't! As a matter of fact, you can't even get your money back out of the older baskets (from 1992-2001). I've been trying for months to sell them and just get out of them what I paid, but no luck. Granted their products are nice, but I now realize how crazy I was for paying what I did.
SPECIAL ONE DAY SALE PRICE — $29.99 Another J.W. Longaberger original design and one of our most popular baskets, the Spring™ Basket makes any task more portable, from serving muffins to paying bills to cleaning the house. Use the Divided Protector for holding flatware in the kitchen or organizing brushes and combs in the bathroom. The 4-Way Divided Protector is Dishwasher Safe. 11"l x 8"w x 5 1/2"h; Rec. Wt. Use: 14 lbs.
Pretty big basket for $29. The 4 way divider would make it nice on a teacher's desk. Always thinking about those holiday gifts!

Wow, you spend $29 for a teacher gift? I usually try to stay under $10, I guess that's the fatwallet in me.

I have never understood the hype and fascination with these things. Friends from Ohio seem especially obsessed about them (Longaberger is based there).

I'm embarassed to say.... my mother is a Longaberger dealer. Her house is filled with this stuff.
Oh, and Wilson Family: niche products like this don't make for very good investments. Ask anybody who ever ordered a "Star Trek collector's plate" from the Franklin Mint. There's probably a really small secondary market out there somewhere for old Longaberger baskets, but yeah, on the whole, you'll be lucky if you get anywhere close to what you spent back on anything.
