From My other post about GC and cheap prepaid minutes Link here, in the same FW spirit of working the system, and saving as much as you can.
T-Mobile myFaves gives you unlimited calling to your 5 favorite people.* Any number. Even landlines. (http://www.T-Mobile.com/templates/generic.aspx?passet=Pln_Lst_MyFavesLrnDemo)
Add your GrandCentral number to your Fav 5 and give out your GC number = Free Incoming Calls.
Cons: you can't port the number, outgoing calls still the same price unless you initiate the Call from the GC website. Calls Bypass T-Mobile VM and use GrandCentral VM, But you can have GC SMS you that you have VM.

Thank you for sharing op. Did you actually try it? How's the quality? I am using Alltel and we also have mycircle thing which can add up to 10 numbers. If the quality is good, I will try it out too.
btw, How to sign up? I went to GrandCentral.com and click on join now. It said invalid invitation code. What should I do?
GC incoming call shows the caller's real number, not your GC number. Does this way work?

Call quality isn't an issue with GC because they only forward the call.
I've been using GC with myfaves for about 6 or so months now. I've been averaging about 800 minutes to/from my GC number with a total of about 4000 my faves minutes per month. I have a Family 1000 min Myfaves plan shared between 3 (soon to be 4) family members. My only problem is that people want to keep calling my cell number instead of the "new number" then when I don't answer, they think I'm acting funny, lol.

No, you have to set GC to show your GC number.

You can change your Voicemail and have them call your " New Number at xxx-xxx-xxxx after awhile they will get the picture, esp if you send them straight to VM and telling them that you rarely check this voicemail so leave a message on the other "number"
GC also has an Announcement feature that you can e-mail all your contacts about your new phone number. This is almost ultimate phone number portability, but you can't port in a number yet.
To sign up go to GC thread to beg an invite.

I did. I just want to make sure there is another way or someone on the forum can spare me an extra invitation.
Anyway, thanks again for sharing

REALLY REALLY BAD.....having to CHECK your voice mail at TMOBILLE will INCUR FULL CALLING CHARGES and TOTALLY defeats ANY BENEFIT of myfavves vs. all tmobille calls being FREE with other plans!!!!!!!! .. this is really bad...
Ooops said: I wonder, how long until T-Mobile figure out to kill this deal
Well, many people have known and have been using this method for a while now, and I haven't seen any complaints about T-Mobile closing this loophole... yet!
But just remember that the MyFaves T&C explicitly say: "Your five numbers must be US domestic numbers and must not include 411, voicemail, toll-free, 900, calling card, and customers' own numbers; and single numbers allowing access to 500 or more persons."

MAke your voicemail a favefive then.
You can check your grandcentral VM by calling your GC number therefore it should be free.
If you route through GC and use the GC#, then your mobiles caller ID is ineffective: I would never ever want to do that. btw, you can play same trick with Sprint-to-Home scheme too.

Thats not true. The google service asks the person for their name and you hear it when you pickup the call, before you choose to answer their call. It is worth noting though that if you already have tmobile you cant just add this service as you have to have a myfavs specific phone...doh!
One stupid question. If I call my local area GC number, and GC forward my call to other state area number, will the long distance charge occur to me? Thanks.
My sister is going to give me her invitation codes so I can post here. But her question is: After you sign up, do they send the invites to the email address she provided at registration or does she have to sign in to her grand central account?
