There is one annoying thing about GC I can't figure out how to get rid of. When you receive call through GC on your phone you hear announcement "Somebody is calling you blablabla press 1 to accept the call bla bla bla". Not big deal with the regular phone, right? But, how do you press one if you have PDA phone with no keyboard? You need to start onscreen keyboard and press "one"... what a pain. What about if you have bluetooth headset and your phone itself packed in the bag in the car? Is there way to change this with GC - just forward the call without asking stupid questions? |

Thanks to shockwave667, I was able to get my GC account opened. Although, I also requested an invite directly from GrandCentral's homepage, and received one. I used that to open my account and still have shockwave's invite with me. I can forward that to anyone who PMs me their email. Well, I can also use 5 of the invites that I have in my own account. Just PM me your emails. Have fun. |

Tested the service. What I didn't like immediately was that the automated voice says something like, "Please state your name so we can notify the Grand central subscriber that you are calling".
I would like this service to be completely transparent of the fact that I am using GC at all. Can that be disabled? Yes, u can disable caller screening on ur GC account and u can eliminate it. |

This is what i could find on eliminating the "Press 1 to answer ur call" problem... """"If we turn off the caller presentation, the first forwarding phone that answers will get the call. This means that if your cell is out of battery, it will pick up all your calls and you would never be able to take them from another phone. You would also lose usage of the central voicemail. We’re looking at alternate ways of doing this and as you mentioned, we’ll soon let you speak the command so you don’t have to fumble for your phone. As for the SMS, it’s coming. thanks for your patience"""" Link |

I don't remember single time to have that with mine phone. So, It would be still very nice to have that option and decide what is better for you. |

So, It would be still very nice to have that option and decide what is better for you. I received a response about this a few months back when I started using GC. I use my phone in the car alot and hate having to hit "one". They will have a voice response system soon. That will be fine for me. What is nice is that if you turn the Caller ID to say your GC number in order to abuse the system, when you answer that voice will still tell you who is calling so that you can still screen calls. I have not used the call recording feature at all, but it could be useful. The other benefit of the prompt system is not just a cell phone that is dead or off, but a voicemail that picks up. My home answering machine picks up pretty quick, so it still gives me a chance to answer on my cell phone which is where I am most of the time. I still want to keep the home number and separate answering machine for less important things like creditors, mother in laws, etc. |

So - if I turn turn off user's caller ID and get only the GC number show up - how do you know who is calling ? |
