IR-2007-08, Jan. 11, 2007
WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service has acknowledged the certification by Nissan North America, Inc., that its 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid vehicle meets the requirements of the Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit as a qualified hybrid motor vehicle.
The credit amount for the hybrid vehicle certification of the 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid is $2,350.
Consumers seeking the credit may want to buy early since the full credit is only available for a limited time. Taxpayers may claim the full amount of the allowable credit up to the end of the first calendar quarter after the quarter in which the manufacturer records its sale of the 60,000th vehicle. For the second and third calendar quarters after the quarter in which the 60,000th vehicle is sold, taxpayers may claim 50 percent of the credit. For the fourth and fifth calendar quarters, taxpayers may claim 25 percent of the credit. No credit is allowed after the fifth quarter.

"Altima Hybrid is available in California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine and New Jersey. Service of hybrid components outside those states is limited and could involve some days delay."
Called a few dealers - discount is off MSRP (which is inflated anyway) - comes to $25K out the door - has a very small trunk - not a great deal after all!

Just a quick reminder...subject to AMT.
I was thinking about getting this but I decided to get a regular Altima instead b/c I can only get at most 800$ credit w/o making a big change to my income.
Recently one of the automobile magazine rated this car as top performing Hybrid Family Sedan when compared to Saturn Aura and Toyota Camry hybrid versions. And also they noted that this is the first time they tested a hybrid vehicle that performed better than Toyota.

Thats less than what my parents paid for this 2007 gas only. That's not a bad deal at all.
from what i was told by the nissan dealer here in northern nevada is that the altima hybrid uses the same system as the camry and will continue to do so for at least a few more years

lol, like a dealer will tell you overthe phone what they will sell the car for. you need to read up on your car buying skills. A true f.w. would never buy a car at mspr - rebates. you have to know the system and get a good deal. not something they just hand you

Interesting because the hybrid powertrain is actually supplied by Toyota.
Dealer in San Leandro, CA has the hybrid Altima on sale for 21,588. With the tax credit it's down to almost $19K.

No, it's in the newspaper (2 at this price so you probably won't get a pricematch). But it's been there for weeks and most other Bay Area dealers are advertising similar prices. You just have to be there early to get the loss leader.
