No it is NOT true. I would suggest reading Newegg's return policy!
I did. This is why I am asking. I emailed Newegg yesterday and have not heard back.
"Removal or alteration of a product's serial number or serial number sticker will automatically void your Newegg Return Policy. Products that are returned to Newegg with a missing, damaged or altered serial number will be refused RMA service and returned to you."
The serial number sticker is part of the UPC code that I sent in for a rebate. So can we still get the RMA if we removed the serial number sticker/UPC code from the packaging? They are talking about the serial on the actual item - not the box. Some yahoos break an item and by the same exact one, then remove the serial number to try and swap it. That is what Newegg is trying to stop. They don't care about the box.

This board has only 30 days warranty from Newegg. Check out their "Limited 30 day return policy" After 30 days, you must do RMA from Abit. |

That is what Newegg is trying to stop. They don't care about the box. "Mail In Rebate Policy 1. Summary 1. Products missing UPC codes or serial numbers from the box are NOT returnable. 2. Detail 1. Products offering mail-in rebates are not returnable to Newegg.com once the rebates have been filed. Be sure that the product is functional and that you intend to keep the product before sending in for your rebate. Products missing UPC codes or serial numbers from the box are NOT returnable. Only the product manufacturer can replace any defective item missing the UPC code." Guess you have to be ready to fire this up as soon as it is received and before you mail in the rebate. |

topsoill said:Whats the next chipset from intel? Isn't the P35 getting old...I would rather skip it and go onto the next one, if that is a good idea. Plus Usb 3.0, DDR3 and and another revision to PCI-e should be out soon, no? I know that some of those features aren't that big of a deal, but if they are on the horizon, then I would rather wait. P35 is not really old, although there was X38, X48 in the high end (remember IP35-E is a value, not a $220 board), the other 35 and 33 series are more alike than different. You'll be waiting awhile for USB3 and a board with it will probably cost more addt'l than the price of a PCI/PCIe USB3 card which you won't need till you own USB3 peripherals. PCIe 2.0 isn't very important either, it takes quite a lot to saturate PCIe 1. DDR3 really hasn't much appeal since it's so much more expensive than DDR2. Anybody remember that HP memory that was practically FAR? Now is not the time to think "hold off so you can pay a premium later" unless that was the intent all along, to pay top dollar for things like RAID integral to the southbrige, SLI, firewire, heatpipes and ALL solid caps instead of only in CPU VRM circuit... the things you already knew you were doing without by buying this board. Plus, do you really want to wait, pay a premium, then be a beta tester? Not wanting to deal with bios bugs is a great reason to not jump on the newest thing till it's matured for 6 mos. or more, like IP35-E has. |

The $30 rebate has returned to Newegg. The Abit IP35-E once again costs the slightly sinister amount of $66.60 (after rebate and $6.61 postage). When the Q6600s began selling for $200 at Micro Centre, I cursed myself for not buying the IP35-E when Newegg offered the rebate. Now I've another chance. |
