and TaxCut increased its price this year again. It's no longer free even after $30 off coupon.

You can always download it for $20 (after a $20 rebate) from here if you really need it

good point. It's a problem to me so far. I designed several times but couldn't make it FAR.

Thanks for the hint. Now does the download version has the same services, e.g. free credit monitor?

Depends on which version you download.

The $40 rebate coupon is inside the TaxCut box, so you need to buy both.

And be careful, some version of TaxCut do not contain the Money 2008 rebate form. Last year I got such a version from Buy.com, so you need to buy package which says $40 rebate on money...

Just confirmed w/ Customer Service. This was an online "error". You MUST buy TaxCut to get the Rebate. Easy to Cancel, unless you want to FIGHT Staples after the fact.

As usual, That was "easy" for Staples to RIP YOU OFF

I called today, same answer of "website error".
this is cheating, why not BBB it?!

I didn't get a chance to cancel my order. I received the box and was greeted with the $20 rebate. The Staples website for item 711012 (as of writing this) clearly says "Free after rebate savings" and doesn't have any links or any text saying you need to buy something else. I wanted to just return the product for a refund but because I opened the box (because the rebate is *IN* the box...gotcha!) the CSR said I could only do an exchange. And because I bought it online I couldn't go to a store to plead my case (different systems...gotcha!). After getting the CSR to look at the actual Staples website, she said I was right and she would credit my card for $21.40 and I'm going to send in the rebate for the other $20. She probably should have kept the $1.40 in tax as I'll actually end up getting $41.40 back.

I implored her to have someone fix the website.

I called Staples after I got mine. They put me on hold for a while and then came back and said it was an error and they could send me $40 in GCs. I took that option and will submit the rebate.

Same deal here... called and they refunded me $21.40 and I will submit the rebate.

I got this same deal. I was almost ready to return it when I read Kev's post and gave it a try. Thanks!!

I actually did buy the TaxCut and Money Deluxe together. I haven't opened either box yet. Does anyone have a link to the rebate form? I'd like to look at the rebate terms before opening the boxes, in case I decide I want to return the software. Thanks.

I tried the online chat and calling. Neither worked. They wouldn't give me a credit and said that I need to return it.

Just got my MS Money Deluxe Plus 2008 from Staples today after seeing their website two days ago that said it was free after mail in rebate. But, the rebate sticker on the box says $40 rebate with purchase of any qualifying __TaxCut__ product, or a __$20__ rebate for the MS Money Deluxe Plus alone.

The rebate form inside the box says $20 rebate for this version and $30 rebate for other versions. Called the number on the invoice (1-800-333-3330). The customer service person put me on hold for a while, then came back and said it was a web site mistake and they would provide $20 in customer coupons, but that's it. She said that they were changing the web site as we speak and that the coupons were all that her supervisor authorized.

Accept the coupons graciously, then return the item to the store.

Also received the $20 coupon, which is fine with me... I'm sure I'll be buying something else from Staples at some point, and I actually would have been willing to pay $20 for Money.
