I am in the same boat too. I called HP.com & they said that the coupon is valid only on built-to-order laptops , and the earliest that they ship the "built-to-order" machines is Dec/6th. most of HP's build-to-order ships from Shanghai. don't waste your money on the next day shipping, it will never be next day. |

So best possible notebook deal for NON-DISCOUNTED price of $999 is about $620 + tax; or for desktop NON-DISCOUNTED at $799 is about $480 + tax.
Here is sample math using AZ (where I live). Hope this helps.
Notebook NON-DISCOUNTED price of $999:
=$999 -$300 (less HP 30% coupon) =$699 +$50 (plus tax, for me in AZ is +$49.65 or 7.1%) =$749 -$50 (less PP 20% up to $50) =$699 -$35 (less FC 5%, which comes out to about -$34.95 for me) =$665
Desktop NON-DISCOUNTED price of $799:
=$799 -$240 (less HP 30% coupon) =$559 +$40 (plus tax, for me in AZ is +$39.71 or 7.1%) =$599 -$50 (less PP 20% up to $50) =$549 -$27 (less FC 5%, which comes out to about -$27.45 for me) =$522
Good prices imho, but I'm gonna pass on the tx1000z tablet. I can get a ThinkPad X61 for about the same price (about $825, tablet capability is nice but a perk; -1.5 pounds is more important). What is FC? Is that Fatwallet Cash? Can you get both Paypal and Fatwallet Cash? If it is not FatWallet Cash Back please let me know. Thank you |

Thank you Yes, and yes. The PayPal incentive is for ordering through them. The FC is for using the click-through on the website here. Combine it with the 30% off and any credit card incentives (if you use a CC to fund PayPal anyway) and the discounts stack nicely. |

Also, on the dv9500t I ordered last night, there's a nice change in upgrades. Last night a 128 MB video card was upgraded free, but the 256 MB was $99 more. Today the 128 is still included, but the 256MB is only $26 more. On the other hand, the 2 GB RAM was free yesterday and is $50 now, so it's close. Still about $25 in favor of today though. To make it better today, the Free HDD upgrade (from 160 GB to 250 dual drive) and the free upgrade to Lightscribe are really awesome. I'm going to talk to them about updating my order. Edit: They must have tinkered with the prices some. Keeping the same specs and taking advantage of the new deals, the price is $119.56 more. Given yesterday's config, I should be adding $76 (2 GB RAM upgrade, 256 MB video card upgrade) but saving $15 (new free LS upgrade), bringing the new total to $61 more. It's close to double that, and I don't know why, other than they must have changed something. |

Just curious Jdixon- Where can you get a Thinkpad X61 tablet pc for $825? (As opposed to the HP1000x) I've never seen a price like that new. |

My wife REALLY wants a laptop for Xmas--help? Maybe try calling HP to talk to a CS rep, too see if you can get the deal? My husband just purchased his laptop about an hour ago... |

Sorry for delayed response--just got back from hiking. Use fw Lenovo link: Base Thinkpad X61: =$1024 -$205 (less Lenovo 20% coupon) =$819 +$58 (plus tax, for me in AZ is +$58.15 or 7.1%) =$877 -$53 (less FC 6%, which comes out to about -$52.63 for me) =$824 (I also get another -1% on my credit card.) Of course, the CPU upgrade, bluetooth, battery upgrade are all good deals right now (don't think they add more than about $70.) |

[...] other than they must have changed something. It's the video card. Notice you can downgrade it to save $99, you couldn't do that yesterday. |
