Be careful: they may charge tax on the full original price $209.99 or so (before discount), at least this is the situation for people in California. See the discussions in SD.

I didn't get charged tax. Do I need to activate the phone to keep the discount?
Yes, this phone is very easy to unlock. Google A437 unlock and there are several links with instructions.
Too bad DK only allows you 2 credits per year (not sure if that's calendar year or 12 months after your last order). Already used mine up on the last (make money after DK) deal.
California has special sales tax laws for discounted cellphones.
Yes, you should activate the account and make one call just in case they still have that condition on recovering the instant discount for prepaid phones.

Still waiting for a payout from them; only been a year.

My payment didn't come till May of this year for an order placed in December of last year. I then changed the payment method from paypal to check and I got it in next 3 weeks. YMMV

Read the fine print. $29.99 plus tax of about 15% -- plus the $10 initial load. The total cost per phone would be $44.71.
Don't believe me? That's what I got in my credit card bill and the invoice when my phone arrived.

I think for some states like ( CA etc ) they charge sales tax on full value of the phones ( tax on MRP aprox 200 ) so tax is aprx 15 bucks .. that's why 29.99 + 15 tax ~ 45

It seems that you need to go to Dealking.com and register. Then (logged in) order via their website from AT&T to purchase this rather cheap and sexy refurb. Then pray like all of us that you get your rebate.
It was more than a bit hinky for me, and it took a couple tries, but it does seem to work.
I'm sure others who have more experience with DK can provide a better, cleaner explanation than I can.
Cheers!

Holy-smokes, this should be in the Travel Forum, as this is a $10 phone that can accept Sim cards from around the world.
Dealking has paid out for us in the past; however you should expect to wait 3 - 5 months for each payment. I have done a similar deal at least 6 times now for myself and friends. You can only do 2 AT&T phone deals per account but you can have multiple Dealking accounts I don't see why they limit this as it cost them an extra $2 when you set up a new account. It may be to limit the ebayers from buying 10 phones to flip. I'm sure that DK is making plenty as they probably get $30 - $40 for each new sale.
Purchased one using DK, from viewing past posts I understand it may take a while to receive the bonus. Looks like the best action is to wait 91 days and then post a message on the dealking forums complaining about not receiving the bonus, and usually within a few hours you will get the credit. Interested to see how much this phone will actually cost me after all taxes and fees associated with the purchase. Thanks OP
Too bad for me I used up my two DK Cingular Prepaid bonuses in the past, this would be a fun toy. I may have to call my brother and tell him how great deal king is . Anyway, I just wanted to chip in here that I waited for a 6 months or more to get my DK Cash Back, then sent a short, polite email through DK's 'contact us' link, and received my payment within a couple of days. So if you've waited the stated 90 days or whatever and haven't seen your check (or paypal payment), just let them know you haven't forgotten about what they owe and they'll send it. Hope this helps some.

I had a big balance from a few phone deals and finally emailed them. I got an email within hours that I had received a Paypal payment. Goodluck!

Are you sure about the $10 being charged to your cc? They charged me CA sales tax based on $190 phone = ~$16.xx. I thought the $10 airtime is already included.
Is there any way to change the software of the phone to display Tmobile or any other GSM service provider instead of AT&T. I mean if I put T-Mobile SIM in this phone will it support Web browsing and other network operations with the AT&T loaded software.

the above unlocking procedure works specifically for this model phone or any at&t go phone, thanks for your response

robby69 said: excx said: do you know if this nokia can be unlocked easily? does the phone come activated. what is that starter sim card for,(the 6.99 card)? is that for transferring your data from one phone to the next? thanks!
Can be unlocked but not easily. Cost you more to unlock than you paid for the phone. If not, it only takes a few minutes to activate. It comes with a sim card. The sim card is if you DO want to use it on the T-Mobile Prepaid program, and buy more minutes. This is a GSM phone so you would need a some type of plan with a sim card to use it.
