All you can eat Pancakes at IHOP (YMMV)

I saw this on a commercial. You have to buy a regular, sampler or Big combo and then you can get unlimited pancakes. It's one of those things where some stores will participate. I don't know when it will start (I assume now since the commercials have aired)linkey

Please list the maximum number of pancakes you can personally eat in a sitting. This information will help to determine how hot this is. I'm thinking I can put down 4, maybe 5 in a given sitting.

Is there a timelimit? Can I just park there with my laptop and be there for hours on end?

i;ve done this several times, i just can't eat that many pancakes, their 2nd trip to my table and im done.....

No, this is part of the standard procedures manual. I have a friend who managed an IHOP. The trick is to make you wait so that your stomach feels full. They don't want to bring you a stack and have you eat two bites and walk out -- some people would order a new stack, take a bite, and then leave. Lots of wasted pancakes.

But the irony is that pancakes are very cheap. You can get a box of pancake batter from Costco for $3.20 and that will make over 300 pancakes.

The mix may be cheap, but when you figure in eggs and milk, it becomes significantly more expensive (maybe doubled). Still, there's also waste disposal costs involved when someone doesn't finish their meal -- most companies have to actually pay to get garbage service.

A couple of years ago, I would be posting this from the ihop as I wait for my next stack to arrive. But, I gotta tell you -- imo, ihop regular cakes have gone way down in taste and quality. Maybe I'll give them one more try, not sure....

Why on earth would you want ihop when you've got Waffle House, Dennys AND Bob Evans...What i wouldnt give for some bob evans biscuits and gravy

but, when you factor in syrup and butter, I'm sure I could get it up to 400 calories a piece, easy.

That's for a small thin 2 oz pancake. The pancakes at IHOP are more like 4-6 oz each.

Im counting down the time until we see results of how many pancakes people have had through this deal...then a price per pancake...just like the people who ate pounds of shrimp at red lobster to get the lowest price per shrimp. Gotta love fatwallet

Glad I noticed this thread, I can share a story.

Last year, my dad and I were catching a late dinner and happened to stumble in while they were running this deal. Dad was thinking about ordering the all-you-can eat, but I have been through the hell that others here have experienced trying to get their money's worth. So while the waitress was getting our drinks, I attempted to explain to my dad how it will take forever to get pancake refills and it's basically a scam. As I'm telling him this, she shows up with our beverages and asks if we are ready to order. Without batting an eye, my dad says, "Sugar, we'll have the all-you-can-eat pancakes, and I think I should let you know in advance how this works. We'll take care of you on the tip if you take care of us on the pancakes. Is that fair?" She laughs and says, "That works for me." We were still eating our first plate when she brought another stack of three around. She also didn't charge us for our drinks, and I think we left her $20. Needless to say, we ate more pancakes than we deserved that night, and we were in and out in an hour. Good times.

Unfortunately, I didn't inherit the ability to charm from my dad. I have more of the "brute force" kind of approach. I'll show up with a newspaper, two books, and my iPod...a clear signal that your $2 tip isn't going to change, and I'm prepared to sit here until the end of the next shift if necessary.
