I have been using the free version of MediaMonkey for some time. In my opinion it is the best music and podcast management app around.
With the recent release of 3.0, I decided to upgrade to the Gold version. Coupon code MM2-UPG-DISC25 gave me a 25% discount. That brings the lifetime license from $39.95 to $29.96. The 3.x license is $19.95 before discount.
I'm a long time user of J.River's Media Center. Current version is MC12.
They just came out with a new version of their Mediajukebox program -- MJ12. This program is a subset of everything that MC12 does, but is free. Plenty of audio features, including iPod support.
FIVE stars from SofoTex(tm)?! I'll definitely check it out. I need something to hold me over until the Amarok port is useable.

If you have a Gold license, the key will transfer over when you upgrade. Mine upgraded perfectly.
I've been using MM for a while now and nearly entirely rely on it for managing my music. My only grump has been the lack of better support for .m4b files, which are all my audiobooks. Besides that small grumble the software works great, especially for the task of getting control of a large and growing collection, really made it easy to get it in order and keep it that way.

Thanks OP. Great software. Unfortunately for me I have the Zune as well and they don't play nice together.

Still alive as of today...I wasn't sure if I wanted to jump on the MediaMonkey bandwagon until now, but it's done a pretty good job for me so far. Thanks, OP.

FYI, I have (had) been a long time user of Media Monkey . About a year ago, I discontinued use of the application after discovering that MM corrupted several hundred gigs worth of .FLAC music files that I used for lossless archival purposes. It seems there was a serious bug in the way that media tagging worked that resulted in truncated headers on each file. A very serious bug. Obviously, there are bugs and there are bugs. This bug was so serious for ANY FLAC users that my view remains that there should have been notification placed on their site about this issue. That was not done. In addition, they should have been quicker to acknowledged and fix the issue. I still have approximately 1,000 tracks that can not be fixed with the MM repair script. The application is good BUT my service experience with the company has been poor. There are enough free competitors to MM that I can't recommend that anyone PAY for an app that has a history of damaging media libraries.
no worky today 10/2/2008 and I really want it! anybody got a new coupon? I was just about to buy when I discovered I missed out on 25%!

It is NOT really free. Not if you intend to play MP3 files! Their 'free' gimmick is that they try and make you pay for MP3 play capability. A 'free' music player that charges to play MP3 is NOT free from my point of view.
Also, be careful. If you have one of their earlier media jukebox programs, which originally came with an MP3 playback capability, they will reach into your computer and take out the MP3 playback capability, and then try and make you pay for this capability. At least that has been my experience. If wrong, I stand to be corrected.
