99 Ranch Asian groceries market in Renton WA has these CFL (3) for $1.00. This is regular price. I'm sure there is many 99 Ranch in CA offer the same thing. This 23 watt rarely on sale at others stores. |

In Maine, A group at www.efficiencymaine.com gives $1.00 off each package of CFL at the cash register. Instant coupons are in the bulb aisle near the CFL displays. Fill out the form, go to Customer Service. Brunswick, Maine didn't know what to do with it, so they denied it. I explained what I thought about their policy. In Auburn, Maine, the manager read every word with me on the coupon, approved it for use, and ten CFL's were free. Thanks, Maine! |

Gupta might be an MD but not all medial doctors know everything. Show me a scientific study and not just some health professional reporting on something he read in some "home journal." And no doubt I could find articles saying that smoking alone does not cause lung diease. Sometimes the correlations may not be scienticifly perfect. Sometimes you have to go with what feels right. My kids pediatrician opts for a slightly more expensive vaccine for his kid, that works for me as well. Also, why would you give your kid something that contains mercury?? Sometimes we need to be a little creative and think with our heads rather then just looking at a study. I for one do not smoke, live in a house under power lines or give my kids vacs with thimerosal. Sorry for the rant -- just my 2 pennies. |

I don't mind a rant and everyone is entitled to their 2 cents. But how about not dredging up a month old thread to throw in your 2 cents (ESPECIALLY on a threadjack issue)? I don't need a subscription update for an old thread just to read your rant. |

snake said:I love the idea of saving energy with CFLs, but man, do they suck. Last 5 years? HA, it seems that I replace them more often than incandescents, some flicker, they take long to brighten, the color is harsh, etc.... I hope they make some progress with energy efficient bulbs soon. I suggest you don't use the cheapie off name brands like feit or HD's brand and even avoid Philips. I've used GE brand for many multiplied years and had good life from them (even when they had the circlelights you put in your lamps, but many won't even know what that is...) Yes they take a little while to come to full brightness, but I have no issue with that as these use so little energy I don't bother to cut them off if Im going room to room anyway. |
