My first post here so be gentle when you rip me! I just got home from my local F.Y.E. (SLC, Utah) where I picked up a new Xbox 360 pro and Halo 3. FYE had a deal where Halo was 19.99 after 40 dollar MIR, but if you buy it with an Xbox system it rings up at 19.99, plus there is the 40 dollar rebate! On top of that there is a 30 MIR on the xbox itself. I have never dealt with rebates from FYE so you YMMV! If you are looking for an Xbox with Halo 3 its a pretty nice deal!

Can anyone who has been following Xbox news comment on the reliability of current Xbox 360s? Have they gotten any better from previous models now that they've reduced the size of the chips?

Sure, the new batches have lasted a 2 years without any issues...lol
The new "Falcon" consoles are the ones to look for, but you wont know the reliablity for 1-1.5 years.

I wouldn't worry too much about the reliability if the console has the games you want to play! Some still have their first console from two years ago with no problems. And why worry when you get a 3 year warranty against RROD!
With the Xbox 360 you get some of the best games this gen and hands down have the best online gaming as well.

Agreed. I have not regrets with buying my system, despite (4) of my friends getting the RRoD within the past 3 months. I hope it doesnt happen to me, but I know it will be "fixed" if I have any issues.

I got a Go Pro bundle including the Forza 2 and Ultimate Alliance games. It's a 175W, lot 747 console manufactured in late November 2007 (Falcon system with a BenQ DVD drive). Halo 3 rang up for $19.99, the system rang up for $349.99, the form for $70 in total rebates and two receipts printed out without me asking. The cashier seemed interested in reading the rebate info but didn't say anything.
The systems are in a back room and the manager had to get it for me, so I don't know if they have more in stock. I asked to look at the system (lot number and power rating) before agreeing to buy it. The manager seemed a little skittish about the request and didn't let go of it while I was looking at it.
I just checked out at my local FYE with exactly what you got!
I just hope there is no trouble with the rebates. a little over $400 cash out the door after NYS taxes and $7o worth of rebates with a 360 pro and halo 3! Cant beat that! I have been waiting for a few weeks for a console deal!
