So which one is better? I bought both 2180 and 2200,just in case they are OOS.

if you are going to OC they are practically the same. e2200 for the same price is better non-oc'd by 200 Mhz.

I have the e2160 and bought the e2200 last night. So far I've hit 3.2 with the e2200.

What MB do you use with this CPU for oc? Thanks a lot

I don't want to get hassled but otherwise it's not worth the trip (plus I could pick one up for lousygolfer so maybe three trips into the store).

edit: Limit 1 per person. Guess I should convince my brother it's time for a road trip .

Just buy one pay in cash & put in the car. Then come back and purchased another one pay cash or credit.

biggyfred said:anrathdeal said:Is it confirmed that everyone is getting retail processors with this combo (Heatsink + Fan)?

I did. The heatsink and fan were not listed on the box contents which freaked me out, but it was heavy and pretty obvious it was in there. Still, I ripped open the box to double check and it was in there.

Short answer, yes.

If it comes in a box, then it has a HSF. If it's a tray, it only comes in a little plastic container. Also, even though it may not say that it comes with a HSF on the box, I think the little window where you can see the HSF through is a good clue.

They usually ask for your name to check their computer records. Just use someone else's name. Fry's in Portland, Or would not substitute the processors

the e2180 comes with the regular size heat sink. the e2200 comes with half height heat sink.

Combo item # 5495339
E2200 item # 5413119
ECS945GCT-M item # 5449119

Thanks for these. Very helpful. Got one set.

So I got the combo from fry's for $78 for E2200 and ECS 945GCT-M/133. The instructions says there is a choice for overclocking by setting the clock. This version 3.0 board does NOT have this as an option on the CPU menu. The version 1.0 board (945GCT-M V1.0) HAS this option - I own 2 of these boards now. The CPU is recognized well... But I think overclocking on this cheap MB may be out..

how did you OC the e2200? mine just show nothing about OC, 200MHZ is the only thing there.

Anyone who has tried to run the E2200 at 11x333 please report result, otherwise we're pretty much stuck at 11x266.

Agreed. Anyone else with a link or instructions on how to OC this with the ECS board???

Also, what would be a good MB for OCing this CPU.

Thanks.

This mobo does not support ddr2-800 according to the specs, but what happens if you try to use the memory. Will it not work or will it just run at a slower speed. I have corsair twinx ddr2-800 that I want to put in this machine. Thanks for the info!

It'll just run it at DDR2-667 spec, and you'll get faster timing with it.

did the bsel pad mod on my E2200, boots fine but I haven't had time to load Windows yet. BIOS shows the common error message bout the chip not running at 200mhz, but then boots on just fine...so I assume it is now 11x266. Will load Winders when I get a chance, should be fine. Using the stock ECS mobo that came with it. Once I get time to put on Winders should see that this dude is running at 2.9+Ghz without any mobo problems or changes.

thanks giving us a clue to find out how to OC it, but if you have a link on the basic info of bsel pad mod, that would be nicer.

I hope it's not too hard to do a google image search of "bsel mod".

janetyan said:2 questions:

1. Is the CPU retail version with Fan or just bare CPU?
2. Will this combo work with "OCZ 2GB (2X1GB) 800MHz PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory - $49.99 - $25 MIR = $24.99"?

thanks a lot

yes to both

I also did the 1066 bsel mod on this chip (motherboard I had didn't allow for the 1333 mod), follow the image in the op's post on this thread--I used a window defogger repair kit and a blade to scrape away the excess (ended up looking like this [credit doh0000 on OCF]). Also RMClock (available here) is a nice tool for a follow-up check.

alert mods

So the mod for the e2xxx and the e4xxx are the same?

The new combo comes with an ECS board that supports 1333 FSB. What is the BSEL mod for 1333 FSB?

Thanks
