Bay area Frys (and at least Anaheim frys) offering E2200 or E2180 with this deal ! Your choice.

This would be great to add to your Folding @ Home or BOINC farm!
Sad I don't have a frys near me. If anyone wants to get it for me, please PM me.
I will crunch under your name and team if you wish.

we either need a frys b&m on the east coast or for them to offer these deals online

That's $10 cheaper than it was a week or two back and that was a heck of a deal. This is only $3 more than Newegg's price for an e2140 CPU, two models down from the e2180.

Are these CPU/MB combos ever available online? I'm 150 miles from the closest Fry's in Illinois and the one or two times a year I'm in Chicago seem to be weeks when there are no good sales or else I forget to check.

[EDIT: I sent an e-mail to Fry's CS and not surprisingly, got back a response saying, no, online and B&M prices are independent. Curiously, the rational given for the different pricing was that stores can be in different markets and may not have the same expenses as the mail order operation. That would be a justification for the store's prices being higher (since retail stores obviously have a lot more overhead than an online-only store), not, as in this case, for the store having lower prices.]

Confirmed in the ad for the Renton, WA store. Looks like the board also has IDE, which works well for me.

I'm tempted to make a road trip but I'd want to buy at least two of these to make it worth it. It says one per visit, right? Think I can buy one, put it in the trunk and then buy another? I don't want to get hassled but otherwise it's not worth the trip (plus I could pick one up for lousygolfer so maybe three trips into the store).

edit: Limit 1 per person. Guess I should convince my brother it's time for a road trip .

Dude, don't let that get you down. I often buy more than one of these things at a time. I don't even bother leaving the store. Most cashiers don't even care if you try to buy more than one. If they do, I just buy one then hit another cashier on the way out further down the line.

The E2xxx series doesn't support Intel's virtualization technology. Bad news for someone that wants to build a poor man's ESX server.

2 questions:

1. Is the CPU retail version with Fan or just bare CPU?
2. Will this combo work with "OCZ 2GB (2X1GB) 800MHz PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory - $49.99 - $25 MIR = $24.99"?

thanks a lot

Sounds good for my Antec 900 case I purchased from Frys the day before. The trip may worth if i can pick up the Antec TruePowerTrio 650W Power Supply for $59.99AR together.

Hmm... now I need a very good deal on the video card and the HDD which never goes down recently...

OP pls change the title to note that it's an ECS mobo. I read it as Intel.

At Fry's ECS is synonymous with RMA. They usually have a big stack of 'em with the white stickers, presumably they have a deal with ECS to buy all their returns and pawn them off on people who'll believe the story that they were all purchased by little old ladies who just didn't know how to set the jumpers.

Someone should open up a business where they buy these Fry's B&M deals and sell it to the East Coast people.

update: Fry's is also offering the E2200 with this deal. That's right, you can get an E2180 or an E2200 your choice ... both are retail boxed with fan. (at least at Concord store, likely the SF Bay area) --> $78.99

Put this microATX 945 mobo into the Antec NSK1300 mATX Cube Style Case with 300W 80 Plus Power Supply $30 AR which is also available today.

HOT !!!! (literally unless you take some steps to extra-vent the Antec cube case)

Confirmed. It's either one. Why would anyone want the E2180? Better OC potential?

I've always understood that you can call any Fry's, purchase over the phone and they'll ship it to you. Never tried it though.

Is this combo better than the AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dualcore w/ ECS GeForce 7050M-M Mobo combo
from yesterday's Fry's deal for $68? I haven't opened my box yet.. If this is better and worth
the $10 more, I'll go exchange it.
