Curious how MC has a higher "original" price listed, when this just came out, their stores aren't open yet, and they don't seem to have ever offered it at any other price. (Marketing BS every company does).
I would call before driving over. If your MC is anything like mine, they'll run you around the store for 30 minutes before concluding the 30 shown in stock are either "stuck in the back and unable to be unloaded until later in the day" or "I guess they were stolen"
Now to find a reasonable deal on an IP35 board and call it a day...

Cheapest price so far on Intel's new 45nm chip.
Should work for online, in-store purchases too (although you'll probably just need to price match at the store).
Very tempted, but I guess I want to wait until this chip has been "field tested" by gamers, overclockers and the like. I hate being an intel alpha tester. If I wasn't planning to overclock it, I would be all over this. Now to decide if I still want to order a Q6600...

Amen brother! If this was just a die shrink I won't worry but it has 47 new SSE4 instructions, and various technological improvements over the current 65 nm Conroe-based processors. I want to replace my Pentium-D so badly but I don't want to deal with initial stepping bugs. Thats my 2 cents.
But I have to drive pass them on Monday for work. I'll try to resist the temptation .

Full schedule for price cut. Linky I have a MOBO set up and just waiting for a processor. I hope store prices will go down in a few days.
Dude, I think those prices are tray prices. This is retail.
That's definitely tray price....notice how q6600 is supposed to be $266 right now? If anything, I think these chips are going UP in prices rather than down...just like the 8800GT initially.

I just got the abit ip35e and was thinking about the q6600. This MC deal is tempting, but since your post tells me I can wait, I will wait.
The new quads will be cheaper, but with less cache. Does anyone know if they are better/worse then the q6600?
thanks
considering these chips can overclock above 4.0ghz with EASE, I think these chips would do pretty well on any applications that cannot utilize 4 threads.
I read one E8400 engineering sample was able to overclock to 4.6ghz on AIR.
i highly doubt u can reach 4ghz with these, let alone pass it. (maybe if you pump 1.5v+ on the chip, but is that worth it?) you might have read reviews stating that "it can pass 4ghz with no problems" but intel sends revieweres different chips then the retail. They depend on the reviewers to get us to buy it, so the smart thing to do is send them the "creme of the crop". Im saying this because they said the same thing regarding e6850 passing 4ghz easy, but i still have to hit 4ghz stable.(3.8ghz was doable with everything overvolted to extremes, but i rather have it at 3.6 with no headaches)
i can tell you it will overclock to 3.6ghz without or with very little voltage increase (depends on your luck of chip), because of less heat. The problem with overvolting these chips is that it will shorten the life or burnout the cpu since they are 45nm. The sweetspot should be the highest clock you can get around intel's recommended voltage and stay there. good luck! also this is as good as the price will get, the price chart shown above is for wholesale prices, the shelf price will be $189 which will be replacing the price range of the e6750.

these will get to 4.0 ghz with only 1.45-1.48 volts (taking account of VDroop it will only be around 1.4-1.45 volts depends on your motherboard)
1.5v for overclocking is more than acceptable, your CPU will be much too outdated when it burns out after 5-6 years after overclocking.
Trust me, these will not be selling at $189, whole sale price is $184 and you think all the retailer will only take a $5 profit? Check the current prices online. This is why I think this microcenter deal is hot because it will not last.
