I had two of these from Woot last year. One of them works perfectly. The other has an issue that can't be resolved. For some unknown reason, the player wouldn't come on likes the battery is out of charge or dead. I have to remove the back, then remove the battery, replace it, then it would come on again. It may work for a long time but you will never known when you have to do the remove/replace again. Now, I just remove all the screw; hence, I don't need a screwdriver all the times. Other than that, it works great.

FYI if you get as a gift...we got a refurbished one from Buy.com in Dec and the back was etched REFURB, not just a sticker. By the way, it works great so far. It was 34.99 then.

It is a metal sticker (each letter that is). If you heat it slightly with a hairdryer it will slide right off.

Rubbing alchohol also works well to remove the stickers. Great deal if you get a decent one. Nice player. Received two very nice ones from woot.com a few months ago, but a few people posted that they got ones that looked nasty.

I got one from BC a month before Christmas. Works great. No complaints. You just get the player and cords to connect to your computer. No instructions.
The RECONDITIONED sticker on the back looks permanent, but I just took my cold chisel and a half-dozen whacks using my 10-pound hammer took them right off. Looks like new now.

I thought mine had the same problem, but if you just hold the power button for 30 seconds or so, it'll turn on the next time you try.

yeah, sometimes mine would lock up in RockBox, all you have to do is hold the designated power button for 45 seconds and all is well.
I got one from woot and lost the usb 30 pin cable...
That is the one thing I don't like, why can't they use mini usb?

Bought two last year from Woot. They looked untouched. Popped the little sticky letters off right away. A little mineral oil will disolve any residual glue.
Slick little unit for just over $30 a piece. Will stick with Sansa in the future.
I'm not sure why the music folder is a hidden folder. Just tell your OS to reveal hidden folders. I use drag and drop.

FWIW, the e280 8GB is available new at Dell Home for $109 shipped + Tax.
I purchased the Buy.com referb Sansa e200 to replace a 1.5 year old of same which had a major accident. I went for the same unit because I was very happy with the first. The looked brand new on delivery. It worked perfectly and after a month I purchased another as it seemed a great deal. After two months of use I started to have unresponsive problems with scroll wheel. I contacted SanDisk and found since it is refurbished it has no warrantee. They also informed me the refurbish was not performed by them. Scroll wheel problems are common on e200 units and I found a site with repair instructions. I have worked on these units before and since I had nothing to lose disassembled my unit. I found the front panel scroll wheel and switch assembly in this unit is not the same as a as the factory unit. The stock SanDisk unit switch is secured to the front panel with a metal bracket. The refurbished unit had an all plastic assembly which floated with out any support. The scroll wheel assembly has tiny wiper blades making switch contacts. The wipers were damaged I believe because of the inferior floating switch design. What I think is happing here is a 3dr party company is refurbishing these units by replacing front panel/switch assemblies with aftermarket part. This is why units look new. Because the scroll wheel is the main control, these units IMO will be problematic. I don’t recommend this unit. If you have one, use the wheel gently.

I got the same problem here, and opened it up. Sure enough, the unit had plastic brackets on the inside of the front plate. My question is: how can I remove the scroll wheel and clean out the contacts? I don't want to pry on it and snap it off if that'll break it. I like the unit and Rockboxed it, but the scroll wheel is starting to be a deal breaker here. Thanks.
