mt3ch said:In for 1 in DFW. As I walked in the rep was taking down th display model. They were really surprised at the price. I did make the 1 BIG NONO, and I called to verify inventory. I politely asked the rep to visually verify that they had one. He held it for me and I rushed to get there from work. As I walk in, I see him taking down the floor model. They didn't seem real excited I was buying it and him and another co worker were mumbling about th display model.....I wasnt even offered it.
Anyways, for the price you cant beat it. Ill post my review later tonight and Ill see what thi puppy can do!
GREEN for OP!
I luuuv FW! which store did you get it from? I went to Lewisville (close to my home). I was there around 4:30. Only display model left. No discount was offered on it. I said I will take the display. The guy went to look for the tool to remove the display... Brought several more employees they all come look on the display ... talk about something to each other... After 20 minutes of wait the manager comes over and says they can not find the tool to remove display... He took my name and phone # and promised to call me. I doubt they will call me... |

That doesn't mean a thing. The little Sonys originally came with XP but since then they are Vista only. Sony doesn't give out the XP drivers. No drivers, no XP. I did answer it. If you went to Samsungs site or any of the links I gave you would see that not only do they have XP drivers, but many people "downgrade" to XP. |

If you were fast enough you would've found one in the Los Angeles area--I did. Atrac said:Congrats to whomever bought the two from the Montclair, CA store. You saved me a trip to an area outside of Los Angeles that is otherwise pretty useless.
It seems like this was a niche item that not a lot of stores carried. Only the stores outside of Los Angeles seemed to initially have them. |

I have been waiting for a Nokia N800/N810 to go cheap, but this Q1 is an awesome deal, too bad there isn't one to be found in So Cal. This would have been a perfect complement to my SPRINT SERO unlimited data plan. |

Most people here dont even know what UMPCs are. They are cool for a few weeks but after that you'll find it just too tedious to use. You will see all of these on eBay not only from eBay monkeys like my former self but from people that thought they were going to keep them. |

It seems like this was a niche item that not a lot of stores carried. Only the stores outside of Los Angeles seemed to initially have them. When I checked a very little while after it was posted, only areas way east or south of Los Angeles had it. Cerritos, Hawthorne, and Rosencrantz were not close enough to me (being in the Pasadena area) to warrant the drive to those areas either, especially with the traffic stopping rain we are having today. |

Bought the last one in my area, no adapter, no discount either (reason from the employee: original price is $1,2XX.XX, selling for $38X.XX is ... I myself should have known it and ..maybe hide it and...). Still didn't decide to keep it or not. |

I highly recommend dumping all these on eBay. There are a FLOOD of new much faster and much more advanced affordable UMPCs coming out very soon. |

This Q1 reminds me a lot of Apple Newton, for those of us old/dumb enough to have one. Great idea, decent execution, but not the best packaging (too big for pant pocket, too small for keyboard, too slow running anything serious). After a few months and trips, I abandoned the Newton for a Thinkpad with no drive (disk/CD) because I needed a full keyboard. For those who got 1 today, congrats and enjoy. For those who wanted one but missed it, give the new Asus Eee PC and the Everex UMPC a look. They are all below $ 400 and has a real keyboard. |
