I just placed an subscription for San Francisco Chronicle. You get the newspaper from Wednesday to Sunday for just $1/week, but the rate is only for 26 weeks and new subscribers only. That's way cheaper than buying the Sunday paper for $1.50 at newspaper stands just for the coupons inside. Many of you might say "Just print the coupons online!" In San Francisco, there's rarely any place that takes print out coupons.
Your subscription and method of payment will be continuous at regular home delivery rates after your introductory period. Billing periods are in 26-week cycles. Rates may vary in certain areas. Expect delivery to start within seven days. Offer valid for new subscribers only. This offer does not apply to mail subscriptions. For mail subscription information and rates, please call 1-800-310-2455
I also did a search and found on other sites that offer Friday to Sunday subscription for just $0.77/week.

Not sure if this is a deal or if it only happened to me. I signed up at a festival (I believe it was the North Beach Jazz Festival) for $10 for 26 weeks. After my 26 weeks were up, they were going to charge me something like $36 for 26 weeks. I called them and complained and they ended up giving me 26 weeks for $15 plus a free $10 Target gift card (option to get Starbucks too). Basically, it's been about a year and a half and my price for the Chronicle has never been more than $10 per 26 weeks.
San Fran Chron? haha theyre are in serious trouble with income, send them money at your own risk. Other mags like Time and newsweek are actually in decline too. Time to get unbiased news again, like the old days.

Go to the Costco on 10th St. in SF on the weekends. A guy sits out there on the sidewalk all day at a SF Chronicle booth selling subscriptions. Wed-Sun 26 Weeks for $10 or 52 weeks for $20.

So be careful that you aren't signing up for automatic renewal.
I got wed to sun 26 weeks for $15 today and I asked them to bill me. The gift card is if you convert to credit card to do automatic billing. I got a year of the Mercury for $30. Good coupons make getting the paper worth it to me.
