Buy 5 qts of Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Motor Oil of any viscosity and a Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil Filter for 34.94 + tax - a $15 MIR in store at Kragen until 2/24/08.
Deal is as follows:
Coupon Price for Mobil 1 Oil per Qt: $4.99 x 5 (usually 6.49) Coupon Price for Mobil 1 Oil Filter: $9.99 (usually 10.99) Mail-In Rebate for 5 Qts. Mobil 1 & Mobil 1 Oil Filter: -$15.00 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Total after everything per combo: $19.94 + tax on 34.94 = ~$23
This is a steal since usually Mobil 1 and the oil filter go for ~46 bucks after tax retail. This is good quality synthetic oil and not just some junky stuff. I saw this in store on a single sheet flyer (bottom right of page).
I'll try to put a scan of the ad tomorrow. Each store should have it right as you walk in.
Beware of Mobil 1 for cars which actually require synthetic oil. Mobil 1 has recently changed their formula and most of them no longer meet the ACEA A3/B3 rating and BMW LL-01 standards. Check your manuals to see if your car requires the higher A3/B3 standard. The only Mobil 1 that meets the higher standards is the 0w-40.

yes they do sell it for 22... thanks for reminding me. HOWEVER, this deal ALSO includes a $11 oil filter (retail price). if any other place sells it for less than retail that's great! but no place sells a $0 mobil 1 oil filter.

Yeah it has dropped from a Grade 4 Synth to a Grade 3. Formula changed about a year ago. Big commotion in the auto world and bobistheoilguy.com if you want to know more about what was in the change and other things about oil that website and their forums is the place to go.
yeah i still use the 0W-40 with 503.011LL spec. german car owners should just buy from germanfilters.com you can get nice ELF oil and an oem (mann) filter with free ship.

yes castrol synthetic but must be made in germany brand
volvo, mercedez, bmw germany? Ok, have a nice day
German Castrol 0-20 is all I use in my cars. I've gotten great performance by using it with a normal change cycle of 6000 miles. 7500mi is the rated cycle; but I do a lot of hard driving.

as of 12/18/07, according to mobil1, there are a few other than 0w-40 that meet a3/b3 (5w-50, 10w-40 high mileage, 5w-30 esp), but the normal 10w-30, 5w-30, etc. offerings do not. mobil1 product guide
of course, they may have made more changes and just not updated that file.

I bought a whole case in box. There was a mark on the outside as "Quaker State". Verify for yourself on a case/box.

wow first the $1/qt AR Pennzoil synthetic now this!!! Thanks OP! My M3 and I thank you!!!
I think last time I looked at the autopart store Mobil didn't make a filter cartridge for the M3 (or maybe the store just didn't carry it) so I'm going to buy the oil for my car and get an oil filter for my wifes TL. This is a great deal w/ filter. I've seen people post on automotive boards I'm on about the 5qt jugs at WalMart but have never been able to buy them. I don't have a WalMart near me and not willing to drive 20 miles to check. When I told a relative to check for me at the Pleasanton, Ca (Nor Cal) one they said they didn't see a 5qt jug of Mobil 1 for $22. I also had a friend check the Panorama City, Ca (So Cal) one they couldn't find it either. Maybe its not carried in CA stores? Since I usually buy my a case/6 qt of Mobil 1 from Costco (oil alone, no filter) for $29 something, $19.94 AR for 5 qt of oil and a Mobil 1 filter is a steal!
$1 synthetic penzoil doesn't exist in San Diego CA 92129 - 92111 i have checked most of the kragen around san diego, none of them carry penzoil synthetic; eventhough, they have big ADS showing $.99 i have asked the cashier, and he said "no ideas"
Danget, no locations in Georgia. I need to change my oil this weekend.

in LA area/So Cal the Pennzoil was mostly sold out especially the 5w-30 some stores had the 10w-30 or 40 but that wasn't what I was looking for. I had to drive to 3 different Kragens before I found it in stock in.
LA only carry 5w-30 & 10w-30, I was looking for 5W-20, but I can use 5w-30 for my other cars.

Thought the dealerships did not use the Mobile1s I brought to them for the last 2 oil changes, so there was a change in the formula... hmm, interesting. So, what's there to use if I can't use Mobile 1? Should I just let the dealerships put their own full synthetic or synthetic blend motor oils in my relatively older English SUV that has never used anything else but Mobile 1?
