You would have to be an Idiot to buy Raw Meat from a company that is going out of business AFTER an E Coli contamination. |

E. choli is very effective killed by cooking beef to 160 degrees. If you're concerned, don't get any steaks that are gonna be served rare, but with something like brisket that needs 3+ hours of cooking you're only talking about a psychological "yuck" factor, not any health risk. |

And any company that was hit for e coli in the past has very probably redoubled their cleanliness standards and is being inspected more often as well. |

or they are going out of business to reopen with a new name that doesn;t have the stigma of an ecoli breakout. Just like valuJet did after their plane went down in the Everglades. Ever heard of AirTran? |

Link for e coli contamination: http://www.freestuffhotdeals.com/freebies/showthread.php?t=24500 It's good that it was brought up, but IMO some people on this thread are making a fool of themselves. Most of us are capable of making our own decisions without the comments of others. |

I should have also mentioned that all references to e coli had to do with ground beef. Nothing regarding steaks, roasts, etc. If you like a burger medium-well or better (no pink) there's no reason to worry about e coli if you have a clean kitchen (and clean hands). |

EmptyWallet said:buying food from a 'going out of business' company is like buying a hard drive from a bankrupt manufacturer. All that means is that my meat rebate probably won't show up...and no tech support on how to properly use my meat. However, if they'll be here until end of February, that's as good as a 29 day return policy, right? |

Not true and corn fed is not organic since most corn is genetically altered ALL corn is genetically altered. Of course, all living organisms are genetically altered... Organic != Grass Fed, which is nutritionally superior to "Organic" and corn-fed. Either way, I don't trust any company that would ship beef. |

No thanks necessary; I enjoy helping, one lazy FW member at a time! I agree that some here need to dig deep and muster up some energy to do a google search, but googling the phrase "davis mountains e coli" may not be the right way to go about this. If you google "[any beef seller] e coli", you're going to find what you're looking for; namely, that that beef seller (try Safeway, Costco, Tyson) has recalled a shipment of beef at one time or another. |

"post your references???" I didn't realize this was English class.
Off the top of my head, I'd say his reference is the World Wide Web.
That being said, google it, and you'll come across results similar to these.

Me too, Thank God I saw that before I put my order in. You would have to be an Idiot to buy Raw Meat from a company that is going out of business AFTER an E Coli contamination. I disagree. Any mass producer is going to sell beef with E. Coli contamination. If you don't assume that when you eat beef, you're playing Russian roulette. I eat beef regularly. To eliminate the risk, handle it properly so you don't cross-contaminate your entire kitchen/family. Cook ground beef until the juices run clear. A rare steak is fine - as long as the surface reaches proper cooking temperatures, you've got nothing to worry about. Ground beef is a problem because E. Coli can be mixed all through the burger, justifying the need to cook it throughout. |

Too funny.... exactly where do you buy your beef then?
A lot seem to think as long as they can go to the local grocery store and buy it in the nice and neat styrofoam tray wrapped with plastic that it somehow magically goes through some "other" type of processing. |
