Amzn now has the Roku R1000 stand alone internet radio Model R1000 for $150 with free shipping. This radio originally sold for $400 and sells nearly everywhere for $300.

This stand alone radio has a built in sub, AM/FM in addition to internet radio and WPA/WEP wireless compatiblity.
No Aux input for your Ipod, but Yes SD card input to play MP3s from flash memory.

The reviews have overall been excellent. I considered buying one a few months ago, but the $300 price pushed me to a Sangean.

Upside: sounds great, has remote, very capable with a fine display.

Downside: Questions about durability (power supply problems) and the health of the Roku Company (no firmware updates in quite a while). However, the founder (Anthony Wood?) is leaving NetFlix and returning to Roku, so who knows, things could turn around.

A great deal on what seems to be a fine radio, though I would like to hear from owners. I think Amazon is the only place to get it this cheap (still $300 on the Roku site) so if you want one, act fast.

Requires AC power... i.e. not portable around the home.

can you stream iTunes or Windows MediaPlayer audio from your PC to the device?

NEVER MIND: I just read all the text, and yes, it can. Pretty cool little radio with many features I've been seeking. Shame it doesn't work on battery.

You can stream both itunes, Windows media player 11, and even Rhapsody to the Soundbridge.

true Amazon lately !

I am sure it is fine for what it does, but considering I paid $100 more and got a Yamaha Rx-N600 Network HT receiver, that does the same thing and is a full receiver to boot, it's a bit of a hard sell.

Yep, that'll look fantastic on the nightstand beside the bed...in fact, I'm not sure I'll have room for my bed in there with my full stereo, maybe I'll just move the bed out to the living room and switch places!

Sorry for the sarcasm; it's late. Point is, different applications. This definitely has it's place for $150 IMHO.

I want an Internet radio that works like a small portable radio. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but I'm unaware of any company that makes one.

There are a few available that are small and work off batteries. I think the fact that you have to be in range of Wifi (so you can't use them on a trip to the mountains) limits manufacturer enthusiasm for the battery feature.

The Revo Pico at $300 uses the Receiva system (same as my Sangean). Very good for internet radio, not as good as Soundbridge for interfacing with your PC/Itunes/Rhapsody. Kinda pricy.

The Com One Pico at $200ish is a cheaper choice. Very mixed reviews on a system that is not as well established. But, it does a lot for the price, and looks quite portable. The little speakers would be questionable for music listening.

KingoftheNet- You have to be kidding about the Yamaha Rx-N600. Not at all comparable. No speakers, No Wifi, Very limited internet radio control. The reviews all indicate internet radio and streaming audio capabilities are no where near what the Roku products offer. Right now Slim Devices is the leader in this category, but they offer no portables yet.

Very true! If only they would start building homes with electrical outlets in each room...

And I don't see any solar panels on it either... i.e. not portable around the beach.
And it weighs over 8 oz so my girly arms won't be able to carry it. I'll need a neighbor's help.

I got in on the $50 Roku M500 deal way back in the stone age, and let me tell you, I have never been happier with a product OR a company. I recommend Roku products wholeheartedly. Too bad the deals dead.

Mine is still brand new and sealed in the box, never opened. FW addict here, buying all these deals, and never even having the time to use them...............
