I just received mine from the Newegg deal. Just like alot of the reviews on Newegg I have gotten many random disconnects from this router. Newegg discussions.

I really like Trendnet gear, but I lowthe Trendnet Rebates! Be sure to staple the UPC to the form and then keep backup copies of everything. They mysteriously loose UPCs ALL THE TIME.

I have submitted five to them. Every one came back as missing the UPC even though I always staple it to the form. In each case, they finally conceded and paid the rebate, but not without a fight. If you search on "Trendnet Rebates" you will find hundreds of complaints like mine... YMMV

Is this the DD-WRT compatible one?

I noticed on the Rebate Form, that you can get these rebates if you buy these items from New Egg, Buy.com, Amazon, M-Wave/CLT, E-Cost, BH Photo, Provantage, Tech Depot, Office Depot, CDW, PC Connection, Insight, Dell, PC Mall, or Directron. This is good news, since some items aren't on the Buy.com web site.

Also, there are a bunch of items listed on the rebate form, and not just this router: routers, switches, wireless cards, kvm, USB, etc.

It doesn't look like. I checked supported devices pages and don't see any TRENdnet.

Trendnet is borderline with KWorld. At least KWorld paid up and the product works! The gigabit swtich I bought from Trendnet is a piece of shit that just resets itself. And the fact that I submitted the wrong UPC, give me a break...

If a co has a lot of complaints against rebates, FW should take it upon themselves to not let people post and help spread the virus of a crappy product and company with shady business practices...

Yep your UPC WILL be missing no matter what you do. I suggest if you DO go through with purchasing this that you call when you get your inevitable rejection letter for no UPC. The customer service folks appear to just approve them when you call and say I have copies/scans of my submission and I know I submitted my UPC.

On the quality of Trendnet products they can be very good or awful, the stuff is really OEM'ed and in some cases very high quality and (most) other times not. I have two Trendnet wireless cards that I carefully researched that are Atheros based and work perfectly with Linux. The were 1/3 the price of comperable cards sold by other manufactuers based on the same chipset. Also one other thing you have to be careful of is that they frequently change the underlying chipset without changing model numbers. So what was once a great card/router with good reviews is a crappy one or the opposite. Basically do you homework before purchasing any Trendnet product and be ready to work for your rebate.

hmmm not true....i had no problem with this rebate at all and I did it through eCost.com which is known to be terrible. It is just a matter of following instructions and making copies for yourself as proof, highlighting the important stuff you send them so they know you are serious.

And also the router isn't all that bad but it does disconnect randomly occassionally, however so does my linksys.

Totally agree, this situation would happen in 1/3 chance when you do the TrendNet rebate. They will send you a letter to tell you that there is UPS missing. No worry. Just call them. And the CSR will do an apology and fix it.

I've submitted 3 TrendNet Rebates and never had a problem w/ any of them. I don't use stapler, I use tape. I put the UPC on the rebate form, mark around edges w/ bright pink highlighter, tape across it completely, write UPC in big letters w/ an arrow pointing to it. Haven't had a single one denied

I am still waiting for my July $20 switch rebate from Trendnet. In November they told me they mailed it to North 5'th street. Only problem is I live on South 5'th St and I had printed that clearly on the rebate form - which I kept a photocopy of.

Since November I called them monthly and kept track of who I talked to and what they said. Each rep has a first name and a rep. number - but apparently does not do what they say they will do for you. I finally emailed both Trendnet corporate AND Buy.com today to tell them what had happened.

Rowena, the Trendnet corporate rep. emailed me back today and assured me "the check is in the mail".

Try emailing Rowena Samson, r.samson@trendnet.com RMA Assistant at Trendnet as she assured me she would talk to the rebate company management to rectify the issue for me and I am sure she would like to hear from you in order to serve you better.

Maybe she will get your rebate through for you, and you, and you, and you.

I basically did a similar thing (tape and yellow highlighter) and my UPCs were still found missing. It would have taken a blind and dead chimp to miss them. I don't think how you attach the UPC has any bearing, I think a fixed number are just rejected. I do many rebates have had very few problems. My two trendnet rebates (submitted months apart) were both rejected for lack of UPC.

I did all of that. I have submitted more rebates than I care to number and I know what I a doing and this is one of the very few I have had trouble with (not once but twice). Not all get rejected but a significant number do. A quick google or fatwallet search will show many people having the exact same problem. They cannot all be making that many mistakes. I perhaps worded it too strongly (that all get rejected) but this rebate does have a higher likelihood of requiring a bit more work to get your money.

Got one from Buy.com and got it yesterday. So far good. My old linksys gave problem connecting to my work via VPN. This one worked the 1st time. I am happy with it. Tried to upgrade the firmware from "C" to D 3.0 but it will not accept the firmware .. but who cares .. as long as it does the job, which it seems to be doing perfect!

Every one of my trendnet rebates got kicked back with "upc missing", including the one where I glued it to the rebate form, then put about six pieces of transparent tape over it. When I explained that to the rebate rep she chuckled and said "your check is in the mail sir, sorry for the trouble".

My trendnet client adapters are awful. They run hot, the drivers are flakey and dont support all the claimed features. They change the content of their software without changing the version numbers. Some of their routers are decent, especially the 611brp with the speedengine chip, but thats completely oem'd.

So its cheap. Read the reviews and make sure its good. Keep copies and a reminder to call them when they dont do your rebate.

Not sure what all of the rebate fuss is about.

In late Dec (07), I bought a Trendnet router and Gigabit switch from Newegg, both qualifying for Trendnet rebates. Within 3 weeks, the router rebate was validated online, but there was no sign of the switch rebate. After reading this and related threads, I became concerned and contacted their rebate CSR. My concerns increased when they could not find the submission, and would only accept a mail re-submission. 4 days later, BOTH CHECKS arrived in the mail - for the proper amount.

Will be interesting to see if they are screwed up enpugh to send me another check for the switch rebate...

After reading about all the TrendNet problems and knowing that Buy.com does not stand behind the rebates it promotes on its web site, I think I'll pass on this one.
