zoomlens said:This FRAM Air Hog filter is only $14.04 so order two for $28.08 (get free shipping) and after $40 rebate make $11.92. Ha! And sell your car and buy the right car to match. Or I guess there'll be a lot of these filters on Fleabay. Fatwalleters are too cheap to just throw them away! |

bobo809 said:These "cotton" filters have very poor filtration efficiency. It's ok if you want to squeeze every HP out of your engine, but it's not a good idea if longevity of your engine is your concern. They do provide more airflow due to less restriction, but less restriction means less protection for your engine. Afterall, the filter's function is to protect your engine from small airborne dust particles, which can cause wear on your engine. The lubricating oil film thickness is on the order of 1 to 2 micrometer, and your filter needs to remove particles larger to protect the engine. These "screens" are so open that they can't effectively stop very fine particles. Mine might be isolated incident I bought this filter in dec deal for my toyota from Amazon,I can see difference in the engine sound when I put more gas.Not sure if this is the reason. |

it says, " Limit 2 rebates (maximum $40) per household" so I'm guessing this will be an up to rebate, and not have money back. good deal, thanks op |

Be sure to have access to a laser printer or high-quality inkjet for printing this form. It was barely readable when printed on my junky Lexmark. I couldn't locate a better quality form on the Fram website, either. |

Form looks bogus... there's a cursor in the middle of "Airhog" in the title of the form. I did the last rebate on this and made money... but this one doesn't seem legit enough to warrant another stab. I'm passing. Good luck to those jumping in. |

The rebate form is advertised and available on Amazon.com. Why would it not be legit? If theres a wrench thrown into it, Amazon.com will have to cough up money when you supply screen captures to teh CC company. Bait and switch. |

Bait and switch. are you nuts? the company doesn't have to cough up anything - i got screwed with a LEGITIMATE rebate by Buy.com because the company went out of business - Buy.com didn't cough up a dime! and from what i understand, the credit card companies will not chargeback for issues of rebates - but i might jump in just to make a few dollars - they don't have filters for my applications, but i can always use free money! |

No, I'm not nuts. I just take the necessary steps when I get screwed and always get my money back in a bad situation. Pennzoil is one example.. they thought they were going to not honor my rebate for no explaned reason but eventually they saw things through the lens I was looking through and got up to the page I was on. I do not see Fram going out of business anytime soon.. especially since it has been reported than many auto manufacturers are using re-badged fram filters on the assembly line. Remember Cyber-Rebate? They also went out of business and my CC backed their wording on the paperwork that they issue. A rebate is technically part of the goods and service(s) purchase agreement. Make it a point next time you fight a rebate with a CC. Furthermore, do you think Amazon.com wants bad publicity and reviews on teir website when they start to not back rebates on their website? I dont think so. Buy.com and Amazon.com cannot be compared. |

Amazon used to honor rebates posted on their web site, but last year they changed that policy advising it is up to you and the manufacturer. |

Quoting from Amazon.com .... There are three types of promotional offers available: a monetary rebate, a gift that comes with the purchase of a certain item, and an offer to buy multiple items and receive an extra for free. In each case, the promotional offer will be a transaction between you and the company initiating the offer. It is up to you to claim the offer. Terms and conditions of individual offers vary. In order to qualify for an offer, you must place your order by the date specified. We carefully check the validity of all promotional offers listed on the site. For monetary rebates we display both the price you'll pay for the item and your final net price after you claim your rebate. If you believe our information about a promotional offer is inaccurate, please contact us with as many details as possible so that we may correct the error. We can offer compensation for a discrepancy only if the promotional offer comes from Amazon.com. ------- It does look like they are denying any responsibility with mfr rebates. Too bad. In the past, I have disputed Visa charges based on denied rebates. In every case, if the merchant advertised the 'after rebate' price as being the final price, the dispute was approved. For the filters I ordered, Amazon is providing the rebate form & advertising the final price as $-5.96 Example: List Price: $17.91 Price: $14.04 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25. Details You Save: $3.87 (22%) Rebate: $20.00 Price After Rebate: $-5.96 Save PDFs or printouts of all related screens & you will get your money, one way or another. |

Thanks harlock001.... that info is useful. to the others....By showing what the price will be after rebate in an attempt to get you to buy does make them somewhat responmsible if there is an rebate issue. They would have to answer to my CC. All of that aside, if someone feels "jittery" about the rebate, please dont do it. Rebates are not meant for the weak that cannot fight back. When YOU dont think, you mean..... move on if rebates scare you. I'm surprised you made it this far in the rebate game. |

Fill in this original form ..." On Fram's website, the special offers don't include anything for the Air Hog. Link1 Link2 |

I've made it a looooong way in the rebate game, and I'm pretty good at reading the signs of an impending "battle" ... I've got a few of these on my plate right now and getting a few (more) Fram filters isn't worth the potential battle that the hoky rebate form signals. |
