Tell me the people you are trying to impress with your high $ watches won't see THAT 'timepiece' before they ever notice the tiny Rolex, Tag, etc on your wrist.

Anyone who spots you wearing the clock necklace will INSTANTLY know that:

A: You're well educated
B: You have 'oodles of money'
C: You know value when you see it
D: You're not a poser
E: You're no dummy (see 'A' above)
F: You appreciate the finer things in life

All for only $12.99 plus shipping!

Spoken like someone who doesn't know any better. Tell me, what time does your Nokia/Motorola/etc say it is now?

Because, it has a 46" LCD face...AND it 1080P!!

I purchased a Tag Aquaracer for my wife this Christmas (Linkify).

Most watches you'll find discounted if not purchased through an official vendor.

I guess she should have her 22 yo head examined along with my 25 yo head. We make our money so we buy nice things for ourselves and our two children.

To be fair the Rolex was a hand me down.

greaaattt. more children having children. That's just what our world needs.

Parents who play an active part in their young kids' lives, give them the care and loving they need, and will be healthy enough to be with them a long time. I have been able to pay out of pocket medical expenses for my chidren with no problems. My wife and my income combined was over 100k last year. I'd say we're doing pretty darn well.

Don't judge me or my family when you don't know us. My father had me when he was 53. I spent many a nights growing up and worrying that he would pass away. He did this year during my deployment. I don't want my kids to have to go through that. He met his granddaughter three days before he passed away.

As you should be able to gather from my previous remarks I am soldier (Sergeant). So obviously a kid who can stand up and defend this country.

Your sarcastic remark is not welcome.

Yes, there are millionaires that drive 10 year old Ford F150's and wear Timexes and there are millionaires who drive Ferrari's and wear expensive watches. Some people really have enough money that they can spend like it is going out of fashion and still not have to worry about retirement...

It's just a matter of choice... bit like people buying the latest and greatest cellphone every time one comes out....

I've known a few car dealers in my time who always sported gold Rolexes and more than one has told me that they've used them as collateral for a deal so for them it was not just a fashion item or a statement of how well they appeared to be doing....

An alternative is to have an older classic watch that holds its value better than a new one

Remember, not all Rolex watches and high end watches are bling. I wear a Rolex Airking--and have for about three years now--and exactly three people have noticed it. One, being my 5 year old son! Some day, I hope to pass it down to him.

Also remember, like all big dollar consumer goods, bargaining at the sale is key. Would you buy a car without bargaining?

chrisngrod--I, too, bought my wife a Tag for Christmas. She loves it! They are excellent watches and built like a tank.

Too rich for my blood, but if you like it and can afford (cash!!!) it, more power to you.

As for people TCing, if you can't afford it, move along...

Lasty, for the rich FWers, good job, just don't end up on the "Suze Orman Show"

peanutty said:i've actually been looking at Aquaracers, but, as already mentioned -- if i'm going to spend close to $1k for a watch, i'd rather spend a few more $$$ and get an automatic movement. however, i do think that the quartz version looks better...

i was also thinking about Omegas, but the price of an automatic Tag Aqua is less than the price of an entry quartz Omega. and i think Omegas look kinda boring.

I have a few watches and an Omega Speedmaster is one I borrowed from my Brother in Law (to see if I liked it enough to pull the trigger on one for me.) The thing that I really like about my Airking and a few other watches that I have is the screw down crown. The Speedmaster looks good, but I've accidentally pulled the crown out--it doesn't screw down--while wearing it and it stops the watch. (The first time this happened caused me to have a Holy-S**T-I'VE-KILLED-IT moment.)

Go to a dealer and try on what you like. Once you have it in mind, get online and go to a reputable dealer. I'm in Louisiana and got my wife's Tag from a great jeweler in NYC.

Does Monoprice sell watches?

I love my Tag Kirium watch! I have had several crappy 80 dollar watches which have all but expired. But quality is quality with an excellent 2 year warranty which covers everything from seals, and battery. My watch will be in for service this weekend, but the authorized dealers are so nice and helpful. This maintenance covered under warranty!

there's no way in hell i'd pay this much for a quartz watch.

but there are watches out there that run into the millions. they're more or less art pieces that you don't normally wear on your wrist.

anyways, here's a MUCH better Oris w/ automatic movement and true complications. it also looks a hell of a lot better than that lousy overrated tag.

oris watch

That's obviously a matter of opinion, because I think that is absolutely fugly, unless you're looking for more of a "fem" look in your watches.

As far as Tags being "overrated", all of mine (I have three- one Link, one S/el, and one 2000 series) have been excellent watches, and still look like new even though the oldest one is almost 10 years old.

watches are about more than looks. if you feel these are "fem" watches and feel you need show masculinity by throwing a heavy brick on your wrist, then by all means go for it.

i fail to see your point about the "new" appearance to your 10-year old tag. i have 20 year old seikos that are new in appearance. i hate to break it to you, but if you look after anything, chances are it'll last.

i guess by your reasoning, patek philipphe watches are "fem" looking too.

If you're going to try and make a point, at least try to attack both parties equally. My response was to the original poster commenting how the Oris looked better, and I disagreed and offered my own opinion (and stated it was a matter of opinion in the first line of my response).

Sorry you feel the need to try and argue my opinion, you failed in that regard...especially after the Seiko-Tag comparison.

If you want a watch...go buy a $30 timex.

Then take the rest of your $900 and light it on fire. Because this deal is a waste of money. I didn't even know people wore watches anymore. If you want to check the time, look at your cell phone. I guess this deal is geared more towards people who don't own cell phones.

Watches...that's so 1990!!

for the love of god, if you don't want to buy a $911 watch, then why open this thread?? Discuss the merits of THIS DEAL, and don't waste our time with these "ohmygodyoulikeexpensivewatchesyoustupid" comments.

I bought my wife a Tag-Heuer in 2000. What a piece of junk. Felt so bad I had to buy her some other jewelry. My Omega Seamaster on the other hand has been a fantastic watch I expect to last me 40+ years.

Tag-Heuer is crap from my experience and I will never buy anything by that brand again.

I don't think you even need a cell phone. You probably sit in front of your computer all day, so you could use the little computer clock in the lower right hand corner.

Exactly. Whoever spends almost $1k on a quartz Tag watch should have his head examined. That's near entry level Omega territory. Guess which brand has more prestige?

Omega

I agree with you 100%. It's completely nuts to pay > $500 for a quartz watch just because it's a Tag. The people that think they are "cool" because they spent $1000 for a quartz Tag will eventually understand that they wasted $1000 when they are mature enough. I don't think $1000 is too much to spend for a watch, but it better be an automatic for that price.

If you think someone is going to respect you more because you are wearing a quartz Tag, they are more likely to take you for a fool.

But I digress, buy a "REPLICA" rolex. You can get them with the genuine swiss movement for under a tenth the cost of the real thing - thats the FW way. There's some pretty good counterfeits out there.

Why buy fakes when you can get imitations?

Could someone please post some quality REPLICA swiss movement sites.

Thanks a Million

Completely agree. If you aren't interested in the deal, then shut up and move on. You actually shouldn't even be reading this rant from me. It's that simple. Some of us actually do want to read the thread and not have to deal with the worthless comments. Did I thread crap the ugly a$$ campus jackets? No. Oh wait, now I did. Well, let's face it. They're ugly.

If all of your insight revolves around "$911.03 for a watch? All I can think of is "WHY?".", then maybe your input is about as valuable as the watch you got free with the Axe Body Spray valu-pak.

Green OP, I have a Tag and love it, and it was a gift. My next will be a Breitling. Those are SHARP.
