sometimes these things are nice add on to professions on where it actually helps looking your best such as IB. not for everyone that thinks watches are just used for time.~

That's obviously a matter of opinion, because I think that is absolutely fugly, unless you're looking for more of a "fem" look in your watches.
As far as Tags being "overrated", all of mine (I have three- one Link, one S/el, and one 2000 series) have been excellent watches, and still look like new even though the oldest one is almost 10 years old.
I have a rolex submariner - it was a graduation gift. Nothing really says "I'm a badass" more than having nearly 5k strapped to your wrist.
But I digress, buy a "REPLICA" rolex. You can get them with the genuine swiss movement for under a tenth the cost of the real thing - thats the FW way. There's some pretty good counterfeits out there.

I purchased a Tag Aquaracer for my wife this Christmas (Linkify).
Most watches you'll find discounted if not purchased through an official vendor.
I guess she should have her 22 yo head examined along with my 25 yo head. We make our money so we buy nice things for ourselves and our two children.
To be fair the Rolex was a hand me down.
Tags and Rolex are for people who want other to THINK they have money. Just because you can rack up a Credit Card, doesn't mean we should be impressed. I'm not at least.....

LMAO. Tell you what. I wear a Tag because I want to and I can pay cash for it. I could give two sh*ts what you or anyone else thinks.
If you want to look rich, then spend $900 or $5K or whatever you want on a watch. If you want to BE rich, then stick with a $20 timex or $50 Fossil, and invest that extra money.

I don't quite understand why people are so quick to judge people who enjoy material goods. I have a job where I make more than enough to make ends meet, save for retirement, and still make stupid purchases. I own a $2000 Tag, which I bought for $600 during the F&F sale. I don't regret it. If times get tight, I know that I'll be able to eBay it for close to that. Over the life of the watch, it will literally costs a few cents a day over a Seiko, which I'm ok with. Don't get me wrong, I have a Seiko Black Monster and love it, but there's times when you need something a little different. I'm buying a BMW, not because of the roundel on the front, but because I enjoy the ride and it's useful for my life. After haggling and european delivery, my X3 ended up being cheaper than a similarly equipped Nissan Murano.
I'm fully aware that cars and (most) watches are depreciating assets. But I'm also aware that the human body is a depreciating asset. So as long as ends meet, money's saved, and all needs are fulfilled, why not splurge for the things you enjoy? You can't take money to the afterlife.
I have a TAG and a S/S ROLEX SUBMARINER. I wear my TAG for almost 15 years and I don't have any problem. It's still looking brand new despite the fact that I'm working in a tough environment. My ROLEX could not handle the abuse like my TAG does. After wearing it for 3 months, I have to send it to ROLEX NY to have it adjusted and restored. The service cost more than $400 USD. I would recommend TAG watches for everyone .. Thumb down to the ROLEX watch

I've always thought that the people that can't understand the importance/significance of a real timepiece are the type that think their cellphone is an adequate alternative.

i've actually been looking at Aquaracers, but, as already mentioned -- if i'm going to spend close to $1k for a watch, i'd rather spend a few more $$$ and get an automatic movement. however, i do think that the quartz version looks better...
i was also thinking about Omegas, but the price of an automatic Tag Aqua is less than the price of an entry quartz Omega. and i think Omegas look kinda boring.

Although 10% off on a fashionable watch sounds impressive, I do not think it's a hot deal price for the Aquaracer. I've been keeping my eye on Aquaracer prices for a while now (yes, I'd be happy with a quartz), and the 2000 model had been as low as ~$700 last year on Amazon. $900 doesn't strike me as a good deal.

Some people don't understand it. I sometimes drive around and see boats in people driveways and wonder why do you need a boat. I love my quartz aquaracer that I received as a 10 year gift from my employer. It's sporty yet dressy enough to wear pretty much everywhere. I could have exchanged it for an Oris automatic at the same price point but the low maintenance and accuraccy of the quartz made me keep the Tag. I also prefer the look of the Tag to the Oris F2.
When buying a watch online make sure you get the right size. 44mm watches are pretty big while 38mm might be too small for some people. watchuseek.com is a great website for all things watch related. I don't think I will every become a 20 watch guy but I have been thinking of getting an inexpensive Hamilton automatic just to see what the hub bub about automatic movement is about.
Oh and this is a good price for this particular watch. The costco by me as a Tag Link for $1K which is nice due to their return policy. They also carry much higher brand names.

I have a Tag Link and absolutely love it. The way I look at it...both of my cars were paid for in cash, I have no debt, max out my 401k and Roth, put the rest in Vanguard funds, hang out in FW for my gadgets and finances, and I'll spend my money as I please. Seriously, some of you need to get a life instead of thread crapping and bashing others for spending their hard-earned money for things that please themselves. Not everything in life has to come on a deal or steal. I can spend $2K on my watch that'll last a lifetime, and hold or even appreciate in value, and one can go and spend $300 for the latest video card that they'll have to upgrade every two to three years. Who comes out ahead and why should I judge them just because I don't play games? As long as you're financially sound, invest some money in your happiness once in a while.
Tell me the people you are trying to impress with your high $ watches won't see THAT 'timepiece' before they ever notice the tiny Rolex, Tag, etc on your wrist.
Anyone who spots you wearing the clock necklace will INSTANTLY know that:
A: You're well educated B: You have 'oodles of money' C: You know value when you see it D: You're not a poser E: You're no dummy (see 'A' above) F: You appreciate the finer things in life
