I do need to get rid of a few spare units without subs on them now though... ironically, I am going to keep the single-tuner units from the old RS deal, since they are supposed to support off-the-air with digital convertor boxes... dual-tuner units won't... so going to flip some of the dual-tuners when they become "surplus"... maybe keep one or two for spares / parts. |

SlickDealKiller said:I think some digital convert box can work with TiVo, someone mention it at avsforum. Yes, but according to TiVo the dual-tuner units are intended for cable and not off-the-air and won't support the tuner boxes... they won't tune any VHF channels currently, only 2-13 and cable channels. It remains to be seen if the software update for the external digital off-air tuner boxes will propagate to the dual-tuner units as well, since it is just another set of codes to control an external box like a cable box or dish receiver, I guess I don't see why they should go out of their way to turn it off but they probably will. Maybe there is some legal reason why they have to, since dual tuner units were not originally intended for off-the-air reception... In any case, I have 2 single-tuner units and I will keep them until I find out for sure... even though where I live it is kind of doubtful I will get any signal off-the-air since I don't now. |

Anyone get their rebates from the 6/29/08 to 8/30/08 promo period (dads & grads promo)? I mailed mine on Aug 1 and it shows valid and scheduled for final processing. TIA |

I bought a Series 3 on July 18--shows approved but not mailed---looks like they will push it out as long as possible. |

TIAI'm still waiting for my two rebates from the 4/6/08 to 6/28/08 rebate period. Mailed on 7/28 and it's been valid since the end of August. I rec'd the rebates from the previous periods approx. 1 month after they were valid. |

Seems like this deal is officially dead. No new rebate and the TiVo DT is no longer offered at TD. RIP |

RIP Bummer... so no more (basically) free DT with free year service after rebate... Oh well, I am still good for about 11 months on the latest deal for two services when all the other freebies expire so I am good until next September, and have a bucketload of S2 units... sold a couple and still have 6 I think, two single-tuners (from the RS / Amaz0n deal) and 4 dual-tuners from the last couple deals. My rebates are both showing validated. Advantage is when you go to try to cancel any of the services they offer you free months to keep them subscribed... so when it comes down to the last 2, bargaining time, time to get more free months. |

TIA I emailed them yesterday (since they received the rebates on 08/04/08) and got the following reply: We are pleased to inform you that your submission has been received and validated, and it is in the final stages of processing. Your rebate check should be mailed by 11/16/08. |

That is waaaay too long. What's the legal limit or is there any? |

What's the legal limit or is there any? 1. My rebates came yesteday. 2. No complaint will do any good. They're within their limits. The text of the rebate says "Please allow 10 - 12 weeks after rebate submission and qualification to receive your rebate." So, if you have to have the service active for 30 days to qualify, and they get notice that you qualified IMMEDIATELY, you're still looking at 4 months before receiving the rebate. |

Dead and gone... no more rebates on dual-tuner units after the last one ended a couple months ago. Which is why I bought two new units each time this came up - basically extended my TiVo service on two units all the way until next August. P.S. Please let this thread die... or move to deal discussion... this is deader than that old raccoon out by the road... |

Well, my year ends tomorrow so I just called to cancel service on 1 DT and to discuss plans and pricing for service on our second DT. I was offered 4 free months for both units (which I accepted ). Also FYI, the pricing he quoted me for single unit service was $9.95 monthly or $99 annually. I think this is the MSD price, but he said he would give me that rate for a single unit. |
