I used brdh10 or so it says on my Shop.com receipt, I think I found it on the corresponding SD thread (you know, that other site)... may not work any more but worth a shot. The code is $10 off $100 or more so you have to order 2, plus it states in the conditions that they do not deduct it immediately, but refund it to your credit / debit card like within 45 days. I guess to make sure you don't return the item afterwards.

looks like that code is functional. I didnt place the order yet though.
I was looking over the rebate form and I am worried about the wording.
It says not valid on bundled hardware/service offers, isnt that what this
would be?

I believe not. Since the "gift card" is just a form of payment, applied to your account. I used gift subscription cards on the RadioShack TiVo deal last fall and had no problems at all with rebates. This has been brought up as a concern before, either in this thread or the one on SD, and people have addressed this concern better than I can, so search back and search SD and see what other say about this. If you remain in doubt, call the rebate center and ask if that constitutes a "bundle". I would not have gone for this deal if I thought that would be an issue myself.

OMG, I just used my gift card from the last Radio Shack / TiVo holiday rebate promo to buy this dual tuner TiVo.

IT'S LIKE A GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING!

BTW, I tried looking for GCO at TD, but couldn't find any links. Is it actually gone?

How did you use your Radio Shack giftcard with your TiVo purchase? Did you have to call in the order or were you able to use both the Radio Shack $50 Visa and another credit card for payment online?

On the TD bill it shows the larger shipping charge, but if I remember Shop.com correctly they refund you the difference to your credit card at some point... plus the $10 off Shop.com coupon code in this thread saved me another $10 (again refunded to CC after a time period). I will be making money after rebate on these and after Shop.com $10 back (coupon) and rebates and reduced shipping refund (Shop.com)... not to mention TiVo referral rewards (which they are shutting down but you can still get referrals if you cash them in in time, but you cannot create a new rewards account).

Thanks everyone, including OP and Sly1, for inspiring me to spend more money on TiVo boxes just to get some more rebates and about 4 months more service on 2 units... *L*

Do you get invoice from TD or Shop.com? Would that affect the rebate in any way?

Got a printable order summary from Shop.com (showing TigerDirect.com) and TD sends a packing slip showing the items and their cost. To be safe I am going to send in both. I suspect you can print out a receipt on TigerDirect.com, if I can I will include that as well. Rather give them too much info than too little...

I dont know if you could use two different credit cards. You must have not bought enough
tivos, all of my gift cards were for $500

"must buy enough TiVos next time..."

LOL

You didnt even need to buy them, at the end of the RadioShack deal, they were
giving them away at the store.

Just walk in, say i want some tivos and there you go. Then all the $50 rebates
came for those as well even though they werent supposed to. I think that
RadioShack deal has to be the best deal here ever, unless I missed one along the
way

That was with the employee discount code I take it... none of my RS's did anything like that, and they only had a few in stock here and there in my region, but I am not complaining, made money after all the rebates, and combined with the Amaz0n deal (buy a DT TiVo for $100 get a $100 service gift card for free), I made money AND got extra DT units to fleabay... just sold the last Amaz0n unit on the Bay for $50 plus shipping, was going to keep it as an extra unit until this TD deal came along...

does anyone know if you change the service number in your TiVo account, does it
still count as being subscribed for a year? I prepaid for the year but want to change
the service number, its been 1.5 months. And, will it show anything on the
billing page and what not, saying the service number has been changed.
oh, there is like an early termination fee, is that going to apply. i wanted
to send in for the rebate so i would like that to be valid on the new service number.

Short: yes, yes, no, no

Long:
1) If you switch your TSN from box A -> B, that is fine [but I'd wait for the rebate on the previous box to come first]. TiVo just cares about you fulfilling your contract
2) Yes, it will show on your billing statement that Box A was removed and Box B replaced Box A. You can see that under www.tivo.com/mma [manage my account]
3) You will not incur an ETF by switching from Box A -> Box B. You will incur an ETF if you cancel the contract
4) This is the most important question & answer in your post. If you switch out Box A & B you WILL NOT receive a rebate on Box B for the $150. Why? The T&C on the rebate state the $150 is good for NEW service activations. If you swap boxes, you are not creating a "new" contract.

Sidenote: If you did the deal described in the thread, it is much more cost-effective to activate the new DT model on a $99 prepaid year contract [with the Service Gift Card] and submit the $150 MIR since you already have a TiVo account.

I'm confused about the $99 MSD. I have two Tivos with one lifetime and I only pay $6.95/month on the other. Why would it be $99/year when it's cheaper with what I'm paying less than $84/year?

the monthly plan won't qualify you for the $150 rebate

Your $6.95 rate is "grandfathered" in, you cannot get that rate now. Plus, I think the previous poster is correct, to get the rebate you have to prepay a year. That year will cost you $99 if you have at least one other TiVo with active service (multi-service discount on additional units). I would hope they would not try to jack up your 6.95 rate, as long as it is not your primary TiVo account I doubt they would.

alert mods

Thanks for the explanations. They haven't mentioned a rate increase.

I noticed the changes to the calculations on the front page. If you to use those figures with MSD, it would be not be -$6 but +$6. Only -$4 if you can get $10 discount for GCO. Otherwise, you have to pay something and that's if you want to include the 3 months as money back or if you buy 2 TiVos and use the shop coupon.

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered 2 this morning.

I ordered directly from TD, since shipping for 2 was actually more through shop .com; plus fat cash @ TD = 3% vs. 1.5% @ shop .com. Even with the $10 off code, shop .com would have only been $3.50 cheaper.

TD = $16.25 for 1, $23.83 for 2.
shop .com = $13.99 for 1, $27.98 for 2.

FYI - Only a couple of days left to purchase for the current rebate (expires 4/5).

How fast is the delivery? Are you sure you will get them before 4/5? They need to activated before 4/5. 5th is Saturday so need to have them by 4th!!

BTW, I do have a feeling that TiVo will come out with another rebate after 4/5 but nothing has been announced yet.
