Klean Kanteen at Amazon with free shipping (varies by size) is the way to go if you are worried about leaching. I bought four of the the 27 oz. size for $15.90 with free shipping three days ago. Price is only a little more that Nalgene. |

The shit we get for living in 2008. Cancer this, cancer that, bad for you this, bad for you that. My grandpa grew up playing with mercury with his friends, probably slept in a room that was painted with lead paint and had asbestos for insulation, and certainly didn't give a crap about bullshitpenol whatever, and he lived to be 86.
I think we all need to take our tinfoil hats off. Does your grandfather's lead paint exposure explain you? |

Nalgene has plenty of bottles without BPA in them, in fact the site tells you if they have it or not. Furthermore they issued a statement saying bottles with it are no longer in production. The OTG is a perfect example This bottle is made from Eastman Tritan TM copolyester that is manufactured without Bisphenol A (BPA) So I don't think there is need to stir up people with disinformation, unless you have an ulterior motive. |

Hello! I tried to use this discount code today, but it doesn't go through. My shopping cart still has the same total. They are asking for my payment info, and I am afraid that after I input it in, it's gonna process the order without taking the discount code into consideration. Anybody has an idea if this discount code is still valid? Thanks a lot! |

May 15, 2008 Hello SIGG Internet Customers, Due to the incredible demand for SIGG bottles, we are forced to close down the MySIGG shop. We are also unable to supply any other Internet business for Sigg Brand. Our Swiss factory is working around the clock to produce and ship more bottles to us, but the demand has currently and for the near future - exceeded the supply. Here's why: Due to the recently released report on some polycarbonate plastic #7 bottles leaching the chemical BPA, people are urgently looking for a safe alternative to plastic. “Earth Month” has further raised awareness with Americans that using a reusable water bottle makes more eco-sense than using disposable PET plastic bottles. Now let us tell you what we are doing at SIGG Switzerland to manage this situation: Reconfiguring our SIGG Switzerland facility and adding new equipment. Hiring new production workers and having them work around the clock, 3 shifts and weekends. Allocating 50% of our global production for North America. Once summer is over - we will be able to re-assess our supply situation and react. Other companies might outsource production to low cost markets like China. However, we know that one of the reasons why consumers love the SIGG brand is because of the trust in Swiss quality & craftsmanship - and that's what we are investing in! We will continue to assess our supply vs business opportunities in the near term and longer term future and will let you know when we can strategically supply our brand on internet sales again. Sincerely, Steve Wasik CEO, SIGG Switzerland Robert Robert Rheaume President, SIGG USA

I tend to agree with the folks who say going from one BPA to another does not make sense. However, this is argument is nullified, due to the fact that Nalgene is phasing out their BPA containing products and, as was stated previously, going with the Eastman Titan product. see the Press Release (pdf) for details. Personally I am going to buy a nice, light Nalgene. They have served me well for years, and going to some crazy hunk of metal to lug around at twice the weight of the plastic is crazy. If metal is your thing, more power to ya. |

I think we all need to take our tinfoil hats off. That' fine, and if you worry yourself sick that's what you end up with. At the same time we're now exposed to a whole bunch new stuff that the human body never had to deal with yet. Environmentally induced diseases like allergies, asthma are on a sharp rise, so there is reason enough to be cautious. You'll probably grow at least as old as your grandpa (statistically) but the big question is in what shape will you be in during the last rounds?
Holger Allergies are on a rise because our immune systems are weaker than ever because everything we touch/eat/etc has been sterilized, anti-bacterialized, etc. It's not good for you and your body needs to be exposed to this stuff from time to time to keep the immune system strong and active. Asthma is on the rise because medical advances have defeated the natural "survival of the fittest." People who would have otherwise died or been picked off because of disease and handicaps are living lives and passing down weak genes to their children. Seriously, we'll live lives longer than our ancestors because we can pump ourselves full of liquid life support, but our quality of life will probably be going down in the future unless we make some major medical advancements and learn to fix genetic defects. As a species, we're making ourselves weeker and weeker and a lot of it, like immunity problems, are being breed by nothing but fear. |

Wrong. Allergies are a hypersensitivity--an increased and damaging immune response to something that is typically innocuous.

How does Bisphenol-A keep the immune system strong and active? It isn't even a protein.

Wrong. Allergies are a hypersensitivity--an increased and damaging immune response to something that is typically innocuous. There is a well known theory that city dwellers are excessively clean. The immune system doesn't have enough to work on, so it doesn't "learn" how to react appropriately to different triggers. It is known as the "Hygiene Hypothesis" |
