Is this a 1970's version of dual pane windows?? Yeah, kind of. They actually slide. The top "panes" are about 48" by 36" each; one window is fixed in place while the other slides horizontally in the aluminum frame. The lower "panes" are about 12" by 36" each. The whole thing has a frame around it (more like it is recessed .about six inches into the wall). It ain't pretty, but the view is spectaular. |

I received my Blind.com order last night and did the re-install today. Their quality seems fine but definitely a notch below the Levelor they're replacing. Last year I installed some huge 1 in. mini aluminums for someone who I think ordered from justblinds and the headrails were mangled badly during shipping, some beyond salvage. My needs are more reasonable so I'll order one with this new offer in a few days. |

Thanks. Ordered some color samples, hope I can get them before 3/18. Otherwise I'll just have to guess from the color on the monitor. <- trying to match color with the free blind.com blind |

Thanks for the great deal! Yes, they close rather tight. I have them on three walls of a sunroom that gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Closing the blinds tight keeps out 95% of the light and really helps insulate the room. These are the faux wood 2" blinds. |

OP, did you do your home in the Express Faux Wood or the Faux Wood? The Express seems quite a bit less and I am just wondering how those would look. Thanks for the good deal by the way! |

Is there a way to find out if they are all the same company ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Steinfeld I had a horrendous customer experience with Blinds.com and will never purchase from Global Custom Commerce again. |

I did a live chat with CS to ask about the Blinds.com offer and the Just blinds offer. Her response was "Kelley: Hello, we are a different company - but I have seen the form used elsewhere on other blind sites, but if you are a first time customer to us, you are eligable, please download our form." So, I think we a good to go on this offer. |

Risk factors: 1. Rebate address is to some private office, not a rebate center. Blame the mailman for not delivering. 2. Offer good while supplies last and no substitution or rainchecks ... Whoops, allocated fund for rebates ran out. |

Gave it a shot. I added the option to make it routeless because it was still under $50, hopefully that gets refunded too. Thanks OP. |

Anyone know if shades qualify too, or is it just blinds? Their rebate disclaimers are longer than the rebate form itself... |

Thanks! Express has much less color choices, plus no wand for tilter, plus no options (Motorized Tilter Remote Control Split into 2 Blinds on 1 Headrail Split into 3 Blinds on 1 Headrail Routeless Tile/Molding Cut Out) I prefer routeless, Birch color(no holes, so my cat can't brake it, plus it looks better), so Express didn't work for me |

Care to elaborate what went wrong with your experience? Lots of things...
1) Lead time is inaccurate -- took longer that the maximum time I was originally quoted. 2) Orders placed with Google Checkout don't arrive(unless they have since fixed it). Orders stay 'in progress' forever. 3) No 'order shipped' notifications. No tracking #s. Limited order tracking capability on their site. 4) CSR promised to call back with a tracking #, but never did. 5) Poor instructions included with product.
After I got the order (blackout shades) and installed them, I found that they didn't fit correctly and let light come in around the perimeter. Turns out that their supplier takes your measurements and lops off 1/2" for the final size. In the case of blackout shades, this is obviously problematic.
I got a feel-good email from Jay (CEO) after my order was placed asking how satisfied I was. I wrote back with the info above. He responded and told me that my comments would help them improve, but offered no resolution. I emailed him back a time or two, but he never responded.
I finally raised the red flag with Discover card, who advised me to return the product. I printed out all my correspondence, as well as a copy of their satisfaction guarantee, and sent them all back to Jay's attention with my shades.
I then got an email from a CSR asking if I needed a repair. I advised him to check out all the included correspondence, where I asked for either a replacement set that fit, or a full refund. They gave the refund, but the whole ordeal took a couple of months and cost me return shipping.
My favorite thing about their site is this:
FAQ #4
Blinds.com FAQ said:Can I return the blinds I purchased?
Since all products are custom, made-to-order for each customer they cannot be returned except for warranty repairs. Orders cannot be cancelled or modified once production has begun. When you follow our instructions we guarantee your blinds will fit perfectly. We understand that mistakes may occur and if we make a mistake on your order we will either repair or remake it at no charge to you. If you make a mistake in measuring or ordering please contact us. Depending on the type of error, you may return the product to the factory for alteration or we will have it remade at a discount. http://www.Blinds.com/control/infopage?page=sat_guar.html?
Satisfaction guaranteed page said:When you buy any item from Blinds.com, you can feel confident because your purchase is backed by our Blinds.com 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, contact our customer service department immediately and we will make every attempt to correct the problem. If we cannot do this, we will authorize a return and provide you with shipping instructions for a complete refund. |

psmoss said:Turns out that their supplier takes your measurements and lops off 1/2" for the final size. In the case of blackout shades, this is obviously problematic. One way to prevent them from fudging with your numbers is to order the blind as an "outside mount" blind. For "inside mount" blinds, they take off a certain amount so that it can fit and operate inside the window. Also to account for out-of-square window casings. (Don't ask, you'd be surprised how many out of square windows, doors, walls, etc. there can be). From my own experience, you can trim the 1/2" down quite a bit, if you are confident that your window casings are perfectly perpendicular. One of my cellular blinds rubs a bit, but it doesn't bother me. The others work great. A big YMMV if you mess with the 1/2", and if you do, quadruple measure everything. Check for bowing and square corners and adjust accordingly. But you gotta subtract *something*. Zero is not going to work for an inside mount. |

Thanks OP. I was planning on ordering a new blind for a large window in my house, so even though I didn't quite get it for free with this, it will still only be $29 after the MIR. Thanks! |

Whoops, allocated fund for rebates ran out.Obviously we do not know for sure in this case (Blinds.com was legit with their rebate), but not all companies are out to rip customers off on rebates. Some actually want you to get your rebate so long as you do things correctly. Grocery/drug store rebates are typically like this. Many electronics/computer rebates do seem to try whatever is possible to avoid paying. |
