Not sure what benchmark program you used, but I know that some of the free-trial edition would cripple it's write benchmark (so as to force you to buy their retail/pro edition). If you are really concerned, I recommend HD Tune and you can try it's full-feature 'Pro' edition for 15 days free. Hope this helps. |

I don't have your drive and my enclosure is coming so try this, remove the HD and plug directly into the same SATA port on your mobo and test again. Did you disable NCQ? Maybe that helps. |

They usually always say that for thr free(supersaver) shipping. Once it actually ships, it is usually arrives much quicker. Of course all this is to entice the shopper to pay extra for a faster delivery method or Amazon Prime. |

In reality, it's going to be delivered tomorrow (the 24th) and has actually been sitting at UPS for 2 days so would have been here the 22nd except it was the weekend. |

This comment may make me sound like a total geek, but as a person with four different external drives on my desk right now, I have to say that this Antec is HOT! It looks great, is very quiet, is obviously well built and a steal at $16.99. Dude, what a great enclosure!! Thanks OP!!!!!!

.I agree... I just got mine put together yesterday and I was really impressed with how quiet it is. I put the WD 500 GB HD in it that I bought last week (which may partly explain why it is so quiet) and this thing is nearly silent. The fan seems to just barely blow but I opened it up and the hard drive was just warm after running all night so it seems to be doing it's job. The e-SATA is much faster than my other USB drives and it is the nicest of my THREE external hard drives. I gotta stay off fatwallet.  |

Good deal, but the rebate sacred me away.
RebateStatus is one of the slowest rebate processors, and the combination of rebatestatus + antec is awfully slow (>100 days) The rebate will be fine, just be patient. |

Would certainly like to hear your comments about how all 3 of yours perform. Someone mentioned earlier that only one of his three is quiet enough (see this post). From my experience if it's due to manufacturing variation on the fans alone the difference wouldn't be quite night & day. But if it is caused by faulty fan controller onboard, then that's scary. We need more data points. BTW what do you do for a living? 30 external enclosures, wow.. |
