Order one. Very good camera for the price. I compare it with latest Canon P&S release - looks line nosence to wait it and pay hundred dollars more

I have the SD800IS
My Mom has the SD870IS
G/F has the SD750

I have used all of the cameras and the 870 is the best by far (and the 800 and 750 are pretty hard to beat). It has the wide angle lens, optical image stabilization, and good control over settings such as shutter speed, and ISO. It takes great pictures too. Not quite as good as an SLR, but the best i have seen in a P & S.

congrats to those to get the camera.

not to crap on your thread, but i think the Amazon visa coupon deal turns out to be a little cheaper if you have the credit card..

right now it's 259.99 - 20, so 239.99 for the SD 870

I bought this camera just over a month ago from Circuit City for $275 and it was a steal at that price!

It's easily the best P&S camera I've ever used. The wide angle lens is great, especially for those close up shots. Great Night Mode (Image Stabilization really helps! I took some great night shots by hand!), Great Portrait mode, Great Macro Mode. Very small and easy to carry. We just took it to Disney World and it worked great! Kept it in my pocked almost the whole time! Battery Life is very good, but due to a proprietary battery, I recommend picking up an extra. (I got a generic off eBay for $7 which works nearly as good as the oem)

Finally price I wanted to pay. Thanks a lot ; )
I waited since new years to see it drop, but it only went up past 300. 250 is what I was looking to pay for it. Now time to buy a 2gb ultra II and I am set.
thanks Guys

buy a 4GB or 8GB card if you want to take videos - which this camera does quite well at 640 X 480, 30fps.

ye looking at 4gb now. NOt sure if I should go with regular or the 15 mb/s one? any suggestions? Looking at 4gb sandisk and kingston one's. I d get 8gb but I think 4gb is good enough for now. Any links for good price are appreciated. 4gb from Amazon is about 27 shipped for me.

I have a 2GB Kingston SD Card ($11.98 on Amazon), and it works just fine. I can't notice that it is "slow".

if you are looking for a good SD card deal, here are a few choices

2 gig SDregular $12.95 or $2.95 after google checkout if you wish/dare (free shipping) link
My buddy has one of these, and it's definitely fast enough for the sd870IS (and SD800) camera(s)

4 gig SDHC Class 6 $11.95 link
This is a great one from adoramaa. In fact i just got this one and it works great in my canon SD800IS. (and this one is on the way(class4), but sorry they are OOS).

8 gig SDHC class 6 or faster $30 link
from super media store . com and NO rebate **credit to ONSALENOW in this thread for this particular card/deal
website claims speeds even faster than class 6 (up to 22.5MB/s)

In general, when shopping for an SD card for this camera keep in mind that 1 picture is about 3MB (sometime bigger) so if you are trying to do a continuous shooting (click-click-click-click) at the max capability of this camera which is about 2-3 shots/sec, then you are going to need at least a class 6 (which means at least 6MB/s read-write sustained)

To do video(vga) you definitely need a card that is marked high speed. Also now I only buy Sandisk Extreme II or better. I have had terrible luck with third tier brands. Cards becoming unreadable and losing pictures/videos. This has happened with adata brand and several microcenter branded cards. Sandisk has been rocksolid in the same cameras these cards failed in.

Thanks for the info! I've been waiting on a deal to get one of these. Now I just need to find a deal on a Sandisk 4Gb or bigger card. I've got lot's of video to record.

5 bucks for a 2gb card on Amazon here

New lowered price to $233.95!

This is possibly cheaper than the Dell Home deal because there is no tax and you don't have to buy the coupon. Plus you get a camera case if you call in!

Cash Back will be invalidated if you use coupon, right?

$219 at Dell with the free 10% off E&A found at thecouponbay.com. If you have DPA, it's another 3%

I asked the same question yesteray and was told MS CashBack is OK for Abe's of Maine even with coupon.
So I order the Canon SD 1100 but now DO NOT see Any email in my acct. for MS CashBack : (

The other order that I placed later via MS CashBack from Buy.com is already acknowledged by MS CashBack as eligible for rebate!!

Are there FWer out there that got MS CashBack at Abe's of Maine when they use the $10 off coupon??
Please share your result with us.
We almost ordered a Sony LCD TV from Abe's of Maine using the $10 coupon today but now have to find out if that will invalidate the MS CashBack.

Please help with your experience !!
