Abit IP-35 Pro from the egg -- 108.54 AR shipped. (4/8 only) Archived From: Hot Deals |
I like ABIT but this is a troubling bit of text in the rebate language:
" Combining rebates will result in processing delay or denied altogether. "
Will Newegg make this good if they stiff us?

Will Newegg make this good if they stiff us? The Newegg page has both rebates listed but only shows $140 and $100 as the price after rebate. They don't show a combined price, so it obvious you can only take one or the other. The OP has the price with the one day $70 rebate applied not the $30 4/1 through 4/15 rebate.

I must be missing something. I only see one rebate on the page the OP linked to, and it's for $70. What are you referring to when you cite $140 and $100? Thanks.

Looks like Newegg fixed the page so only the one day $70 rebate is showing. A lot less confusing that way. Tomorrow you should see the $30 rebate back up on the page.
This is a great post, because it's the lowest price it has ever been (due to the 1 day $70 rebate), and, it's the 2nd highest User rated P35 chipset motherboard on the Egg! Been watching this board for 9 months now. Usual price is $169.99 plus shipping, $30 rebate and free shipping comes and goes, so $70 rebate was the deciding factor for me. Got one (finally). Now have to decide on a CPU!
Price Related Reminders:
1. Print out ad page showing today's one day price.
2. Print out $70 rebate form (and save a blank PDF copy on your hard drive).
3. Don't miss the rebate postmark date of April 29, but also don't remove the UPC and submit it for the rebate until you confirm your motherboard works (as the Egg won't take the motherboard back without the UPC). (Or, take that risk, and send the board to the manufacturer if it turns out to be defective).
4. Make copies of all rebate docs being sent in. Consider Certified Mail or other tracking service.
I may edit (add on below) to this post to add my technical suggestions as I eagerly await the board.
Anyone ever got the rebate back from Abit? Many people said the rebate never come!!
For those that need a simpler board, the Abit IP35-E costs only around $60 after rebate and overclocks just as easily.

I don't know about many other people, but I have received Abit rebate for my wireless card no problem.
I have this motherboard (paid a lot more), and it's been very stable for me (with Intel Quadcore).
Anyone know where the Firewire port is on this??
Specs say it has 2 onboard??
They are headers on the board. There's an included USB/Firewire bracket in the box.
What is a good economical overclocker that will work on this board?

1) It doesn't support AHCI mode, just SATA. Now, if you ever want to put some sort of *nix on it, it's currently a problem.
2) It's not in stock at the egg currently. IF you buy it pretty much anywhere else, it won't have the rebate, putting it at about the same price as the pro is right now.
Something to consider on the pro:
If you really need both NICs simultaneously, you can't saturate them both at the same time with gigabit because they're on a single pci bus and the pci bus can't handle that much data at once.
With that said, how often do you have a computer with saturated gigabit - let alone two at a time? You'd have to have a LOT of really fast storage to do that.

Thanks, I did not see that. Does using the bracket mean you'll lose access to a PCI slot??

This board is excellent especially for this price. I have an IP-35 Pro as well as an IP-35, both very stable at high clocks.
Thanks. I've been wanting to build a new machine for a while. My old one works but I'm running into little problems here and there. I even had an entire system specced out but cancelled at the last minute. Went ahead and got this since it is a good board and I'll just have to wait for a good deal on a q6600 or q9300/9450. This should last me another 2 or 3 years.

Hard to beat this right now: Q6600
wolfdales dont like p35 boards too much, just a heads up for people trying to get this with wolfies(it works but temps are off the charts/error = headache) if you have a wolfdale, stick with x38 boards for better compatibility.
any processor pre-wolfdales will run perfectly with this abit, i would either go with q6600 for quad or e4500 for dual core

I have three computers based upon this chip so far (two of them on Abit IP35-E boards) and all three easily clocked at 3.0GHz. Awesome bang for the buck!
