How good is the FM transmission of this unit? I hear that the cheaper kinds may be noisy. My friend was strongly recommending getting a Belkin. Any advice? |
Seems like a pretty slick item. I also would like to hear about the sound quality. Anyone else ever buy from ledshoppe? |
sauceyapple said:I too wonder about the quality of this one. I have a Kensington and a Philips. I love the quality of my Philips (Kensington is ok). This is such a tempting deal, if only that transmitter was a name brand... but I guess no matter which brand it is, it's all the finest of China. I don't know how well this thing works, but the FM transmitter, 12v kind (cig lighter in car) for 3.50 shipped from DealExtreme like 3 years ago works great, still works to this day... and if you buy, don't forget to use the coupon for some freebies. I got some freebies last time I ordered |
It looks like the VR (Virtual Reality) mp3/wma/usb fm transmitter sold on Amazon ($25) and Target B&M ($7-$12 clearance). |
Pardon me for saying this. But this is ONE UGLY device they have there! Looks like a child took the picture and someone PSed as ugly as possible. Well still a decent deal. Nowadays who cares about the look? Didn't you see fat guys with hot chicks ALL THE TIME? |
Here's this transmitter on Amazon... reviews are decent but there are only 6 of them. But if this is a Chinese knock off of the original from Amazon, it could almost be better, as Chinese knock-offs would not be very likely to follow the FCCs power limit regulations which currently hinder performance of transmitters in the US. |

Are you same function of spammer? I think deal is like same smell of fish. |

They seem like the same kind of Chinese operation as DealExtreme, etc. Selling lots of cheap led flashlights etc. It did take a while for it to get here, flimsy packaging but nothing was broken. Post office got confused and made me pick it up rather than have my wife sign for it, but that was the post office mistake I think. I'd give them a go again. |
The 2 biggest problems with FM transmitters: FM Modulation (converting the audio signal to an FM signal for transmission) and radio interference (transmitter sending a strong enough signal to transmit it far enough without other radio stations interfering) most cheap transmitters have poor FM modulation and often times are just joining the L+R channels into mono. even then the audio quality can be poor (even with great reception). the 2nd problem can be a number of things. finding an open frequency helps and having a higher powered transmitter (although this is heavily regulated by the FCC to nearly 0 power (I think it's .25 Watts)). I haven't had any experience with this particular one but i've used a belkin, iTrip, and a couple cheap generics, and the only one that I can say is decent is this: |

Ledshoppe is a known store around FW (for cheap, lower quality stuff). Save the spammer label for the real ones. We need more people to post deals. |

I got mine yesterday and I'm pretty impressed. Signal strength is good. I've only used the line input thus far so I can't comment on the SD or USB reader. |
I just got mine. An initial test shows this to not only work, but to work well. I have no others to compare it to, but I was half-expecting it to catch on fire or not to work at all. It had a very clean sound, even when I moved it around a bunch (my 12V plug is on an extension wire). Comes with groovy semi-English instructions! It uses a screwy 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable for direct input because it only has a 2.5mm jack on the body. Luckily, it comes with this cable. |
