Gold Box

I picked up B&D power scissors for $5 at Lowes (thanks to another post on FW last week) but I have been disappointed with them. They'll probably be fine for wrapping paper, but I was hoping for help with plastic clamshells that so many electronics are packaged in these days. The B&D scissors barely nicked the plastic before jamming, so they won't work for me for this purpose. They seem somewhat underpowered.

I found if you try and cut the lip straight on, on the plastic clam shells they struggle, but if you bend the lip it goes through it like butter. They are great for $5 since that's not much more then standard scissors, I would even pay the gold box price, they are quite handy.

I got some extras from Lowes for gifts last week as well since I already had a pair that I bought on clearance at WalMart a year earlier. I find they go through cardboard boxes great and are safer than box cutters and are very useful for the plastic containers most electronics come in. They do get stuck on occassion but usually you just have to back off of the cut and retry it or approach from a different angle. I'd also suggest charging the battery in them for 24 hours before attempting cutting pretty much anything thicker than wrapping paper.

Mine work great. Cut blister packs and cardboard with ease.

I also picked them up for $5 at Lowe's in Orlando on Monday (4/7). There were still many pairs on the shelf.

May be the sign of the times, you've cut back so much there's not much left to trim, so you're leaving the cutters on the shelf?.....
In comparison to 1930 where statistical data is available, today's depression is worst, don't let the political/media forces steer your creatures of the id wrong.

Maybe you should do some research about the depression and learn that crop prices fell by 40% due to lack of demand and unemployment rose to 25 to 30%. Crop prices now are at all time highs due to demand from both use as food and an energy source. Unemployment is only around 6% now, which is average.

Comparing this year's downturn to a dpression is a joke.
