Pretty close to the Q6600 deal everyone loved. Edit by Moderator: Thank you for participating in the forums. For more information on other similar Dell deals go Here.

I just canceled an earlier order I placed after reading this thread. Op, you just saved me and who knows how many others ~$66. It would be around $86 but it looks like you lose the FatCash. Many thanks!!!

i got mine for 700 after taxes and shipping... with vista home ultimate ($30 extra) as the only upgrade (no DPA or any of that).
No, It is almost exactly the same. Vista Ultimate was more than $30 extra.
I was always under the impression that AMD processors were better because Intel quad-cores have only two data "pipelines", while the AMD's (such as the Phenom's) actually have four. It seems that this would translate into faster speeds for similarly-rated processors.
Is this correct, or am I missing something?

You're missing the last year of processor news. Love AMD and hope they get it together, but Intel is the only way to go at the moment. Especially at this price.

It's Vista home premium for $30 extra. And last time I think the modem (now add $20) was free, but coupon was $300 off not $325 off. So $5 cheaper now.

Thanks, OP!
Heres my config I just bought:
Inte Core 2 Duo 4MB 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 22" Monitor 250GB Vista Home Basic (I have spare Vista Premium cd at home) 16x DVDRW
I bought this system during the last promotion and when I configure the identical system (with 24" LCD, Vista Premium, card reader, modem, etc.), this deal is $5 cheaper after applying both coupons and including tax.

I wasn't able to OC the cpu (did the electrical tape mod). It worked, but wasn't stable. I did the raid 5 bios, which is awesome - I got 3 500GB WDs right now reading at ~125-150MB/s. I reinstalled Vista x64 (Free upgrade). You also get downgrade rights with Vista Ultimate - so I suggest get that. You will just need your own media of x64 (which works awesome - I'm 99% happy with it). Got 6GB of ram in there now. Will probably go to 8 once I see a good deal.

They're not selling for quite that much. After eBay and paypal fees, you're looking at walking away with about $300.
Even still, figure $650 (after tax) minus $300 equals $350... and no way you're going to build this system by yourself for $350. The processor itself is going to cost you over $200.

can you elaborate on the Vista x64 free upgrade? I thought the upgrade for free x64 was only for retail vista, not preloaded.

Does Dell do price adjustments? I bought this when it was around $700 after tax.

Sounds about right. I got on the last deal and paid $677 with a tax and a couple upgrades. I ebayed the monitor and got $320 + $35 (shipping) for it. So that's $355-$35(shipping)-$20(about for eBay and paypal fees)=$300 So the computer cost me about $377.
Hot, thanks OP! $669 final price, I did leave the memory reader. Sell the 24" for ideally $300+ and this is a nice system!
Thanks again, -Ed

Usually a decent estimate of shipping + eBay + paypal fees is 15-20% of the sale price of the item. You'll easily net at least $300 on the monitor.

How is everybody getting it for <$700?
I have the $325 off, 10% off, and the 2% off. I'm in CA with about $55 tax and free ship. Still $702 with the vista home premium as my only upgrade from the OP's specs.
i'm hesitate right now, czu i dont want to give up my 20inch ultra sharp Dell widescreen lcd, (which i think is better than the 24inch lcd). Is the 24inch lcd is easy to sell in eBay..

When you check out, use your credit card. Then they will offer you an additional 4% off if you use DPA . Sign up for one if you don't have it. Should bring you down to $660ish.
btw is this desktop quiet?? czu my current one is kind of loud.. i can't stand it any longer

I followed the instructions as provided by the OP and my system came to $612.11 (obviously pre-tax). Did you remember to downgrade the keyboard and remove the media reader, as the OP instructed?

As easy as it is to sell anything on eBay. Search "E248WFP" on eBay. Right now it shows 30 results. Last time this deal came around i watched eBay and it jumped up to about 90 results, which meant more competition for me. Still, I sold my monitor for $355 with shipping. My guess is that once these monitors get shipped out from this deal, the amount of results on eBay will jump.Aznmask said: i'm hesitate right now, czu i dont want to give up my 20inch ultra sharp Dell widescreen lcd, (which i think is better than the 24inch lcd). My pre-tax total is $638, with downgraded keyboard and media reader, but added home premium ($30). I guess the DPA explains it, but I don't want to get the DPA, 4% not worth right now for me to get a credit hit.

I just order one, thanks OP! I wonder how Dell ships the item like this... I live in the apartment, will they just leave it outside the door without requiring signature? I don't mind to drive to pick up the item at local facilities of UPS/Fedex/DHL..., but do I have this option? Thanks!

Mine arrived literally in three or four seconds. You might try submitting it again. Perhaps you accidentally typed your e-mail address incorrectly.

frankly with the drop in price of q6600 since this original sale, it should at least be this price or lower. but i doubt they'll match this flamin deal again.
