Looks good. Ever have any luck switching the motherboard for something else. I'd prefer to get an intel chipset over the nvidia. Don't care if it's ECS.

Looks like they have a combo for the E4500 and Intel DQ35J0E for $199 as well.
And Fry's frequently has the E4500 paired with an ECS 945GCT-M/1333 - it will probably show up in the next week or so.
Nice chip, it is an especially good value if you want to do some overclocking. I am running mine at 3.2 GHz (stock 2.2) with an IP-35 Pro motherboard.

You can do a "BSEL" mod to boost the ghz on these babies.
Here's a link to do the 266MHZ FSB (versus the stock at 200x4=800FSB). Scroll down to the only photo.
For processors stock FSB at 800MHZ, like the e4500, the 266MHZ (~1033FSB, if im correct) is most recommended. The slightly higher 333MHZ will more than likly not work. !The 266MHZ BSEL mod connect the 2nd and 5th pins/dots on next to the notch.!
Since you are Fry's goto the soldering section (where all the soldering equipments are) and buy the circuitwriter pen for about 15.00, needed to do the mod. The stock heatsink will work fine, unless you notice a huge and bad temperture increase. Generally, 40 degress C to 60 is okay on full load.
These mod are very simple to do and real quick. It's like drawing when you were a kid. If you mess-up, rub some alcohol and try again. You can also use a regular pencil eraser to polish the connectors if the alcohols dull it a bit.

I just went to my local Fry's and bought this combo for $99...with tax is about $107 (I think I took the last motherboard on the shelf). I can confirm that you get a retail boxed CPU.

one little note to add. I have done both a e2200 and e4500 and notice that they need a little more voltage to run full stable. All mine runs perfectly stable with the bsel and 1.4v vmod on the ecs board.
Yet another note, but for referencing the 945 ecs board, verion 1 will NOT work with bsel mod. This board according to some of my buddy works fine.

I tried bsel mod on my E4500 and 945 ecs board, verion 1 and the system did boot at 2.93GHz. It can boot into Windows XP. But it can not run stably. I guess I need to add a little voltage. As I didn't want to do the vmod on the chip, I ended up with removing the bsel mod with ethanol from cvs.

I have the 945 version 2. Do you know if the BSEL mod will work on it?

Really this one is pretty good. Of course if you bump your budget up just a bit it is hands down the Q6600. I picked up this cpu/mobo deal today, as I've been looking for a nice dual core to put into my KPC.

There is no need to the do the BSEL mod with this motherboard. I picked up this motherbaord from a Fry's combo a couple months back, there should be an option in BIOS called "BSEL select" which will let you run it at a higher bus speed (no other overclocking options though).

Right, this is totally dependent on the board. BSEL mod is for some ECS boards or other boards that wouldn't allow any soft overclocking via the bios.
Damnit I just picked up the CPU for $100 alone at Microcenter two weeks ago. Oh well, great deal.
