I have a pair of these and overall for the price they aren't bad. They don't provide a lot of Bass but I mostly use them for watching movies on a portable DVD player and they're fine for that. For my MP3 player, they're okay, again, the lack of Bass is the only downside.
The one other thing that would have been nice is to have an L shaped plug instead of the straight one.

For the money they can't be beat. Also missing is labeling for left and right ear.
Straight plugs are usually better than L-shaped ones... Hmmm, that just doesn't sound right ![]()
You see, some iPod covers or thick "skins" also protect the bottom part of the unit, and the thickness of the material can keep some of the L-shaped plugs from being fully seated into the headphone jack.
bummer !
not available locally.
i've got a pair of these. there not for audiofiles, but for $10,
well worth it.
but thanks op
got 2 of these buds; absolutely can not beat for thr price; better sound and quality than my old sonys which cost about 10 times as much.
Might get these and a micro SD card for my phone and go with an anti-ipod setup. Where's a good place to get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter? Radio $hack?

Be careful with 2.5mm adapters. They are not all the same. Different models of phones may require a specific type of adapter. You might want to test it first before you buy if you get it from Radio Shack. eBay is also another good source.
Whenever I see "Smokin' Buds" I think of something entirely different than headphones.
Target B&M had these $9.99 a few days ago. Might check there if CC doesn't have them.
I bought several of these at xmas and loved them. Sounds like they cost $99.
These aren't the same as the Skullcandy Smokin' Buds I picked up from Staples a few months back (LINK), which does have L/R identifiers, and love them. My kids each have a set as well. Might check them out in store to see...but from the pics, I believe these are the "cheaper" version. I prefer the ones I already have (which my oldest son has confiscated, so I need a new set...)
edit: Huh..the White Smokin' Buds are on on sale for $14.99, as are the Rasta and Pink...the black are still $29.95 though. ![]()
For the price, the Smokin' Buds (white, pink, or Rasta) are a better deal IMHO. And for those asking, the Smokin' Buds have an L-shaped connector, which doesn't fit my iPhone, but I have the adapter to make them work...
Good find OP. These are decent for the price.
I found them at FYE in our local mall for $9.99 They were near the check out. Lot's of items in the store were mis priced so may need to ask.

I agree with the others that these sound very good for the price. They are actually a little bass-heavy, although not as much as say the V-MODA Bass Freq. (Which cost more.)
As mentioned, the plug is a little too large to fit in the iPhone without an adapter. However, I noticed in Target a few weeks ago that Skullcandy has a slightly newer model (Skullcandy Ink'd; "Smokin' Buds" is dropped from the title) with a revised plug that fits the iPhone.
Are these better than the JVC HA-FX33 Marshmallow Earbuds? I bought them when they were $10 at CC last year and they sounded terrible.
Or how about compared to the Koss Sparkplug? Not really happy with them either.

Or how about compared to the Koss Sparkplug? Not really happy with them either.Hard to say, given the opinions you expressed. I got both the Skullcandy Ink'd and the JVC Marshmallow, and I was pretty happy with them both but found the Marshmallow a tiny bit more comfortable.
(Tip to those who say there isn't much bass: make sure you occlude your ear canal completely with the ear-squishy part. Pick the right size of silicone on the Skullcandy, and for the Marshmallows, I squish the memory-foam part of the bud down all around with my fingers and then insert it like those foam earplugs you can get in drugstores. Sounds pretty good IMHO.)
I got this at FYE in Jersey Gardens for $10 a few weeks ago. I am using them right now, defn worth the price. I was skeptical at first, but glad I used my gift card to get them. BTW it doesn't distinguish between left and right, kind of awk.
I used to have THE PLUG by Koss and I really liked them especially after doing the soft foam ear piece mods that were really ear plugs that you got to protect your ears from sound at say Walgreens, that you burned a hole in them and slipped them on the Koss "the plug". Does anyone know if there is a mod out there to put those foam ear plugs on these Skullcandy's - I just can't find any during a search but those are very soft and comfortable than the gel ear pieces IMHO.
