You can get these "Coach" handbags in Chinatown for $35. "Prada" too. And they look like real ones...

I just came back from Woodbury Commons outlet at NY, I confirm the same up to 50% off sale at Coach store, I got 3 of them, great discount!

Yes my wife has the same disease of buying Coach handbags. She picket 2 yesterday and they were 50% off. She said people were just going crazy. I am not sure what is the big deal with these over priced bags.

Do you have any idea what you are doing when you buy those fake bags? Those are made in sweatshops that would make Kathy Lee Gifford upset. Seriously, those are made in deplorable conditions. Buying them is supporting that and you should really think twice.
anyone find a coach outlet B&M finder? I know where there's one, but I wish there was a store finder where it only displays outlets.

I was there today (19th) and they are having this sale. 50% off is only on a few selected styles. There were some nice bags for $90. Most items are 30-40% off (already discounted prices). My wife picked up a $658 purse for $207.

Yeah, my ex did that, selling them on eBay after she bought them at an outlet in CT. She didn't make too much on it, if I remember right...I think she would spend ~$150 or so an make $25-$50 on them. Sounds like you could actually make a little more if outlet prices are discounted.

You don't know what you are talking about. These are at the Coach Outlet Stores; a chain of stores owned by the manufacturer. In the Spring, they commonly have some pretty nice discounts on older closeout styles.

Before people get into too much of a froth, I'll toss in that that location IS heavily patronized by people from overseas. It's very close to Dulles Airport so people stop in before they board international flights, mall announcements are sometimes made in half a dozen languages, etc. IIRC the Polo and Coach stores are among the most popular with the non-English speaking set.

For the most part there's not a whole lot of difference among the conditions in factories where "real" stuff is made and "fake" stuff is made. If you buy something made in China, India, or elsewhere where there's widespread poverty and thus a large supply of desperate, easily replaced labor, chances are the people doing the assembly are making a couple of dollars a day.

Grabbed a few to take us through a few important gift occasions and such.
Coach outlets are great - beware - outlets mostly gets "seconds", inspect your purchase before you buy - cause quantity of the particular item is limited and exchange usually problematic ! Coach makes excellent quality stuff! Good luck!

I find really good high quality purses (not Coach, etc) at my Goodwill, $1.50 each. I have seen knockoffs there once in a great while, but they look flimsy and crappy. I found a genuine Louis Vitton there 15 years ago, for $1.00. I bought that, used it for a couple years, then got rid of it. 10 years later, I found out what they were worth. Shoulda kept it!! My sister just found a Genuine Coach bag, not a knockoff, for $1.25. I told her to sellit on eBay, as it was retired and sells for 500.00 now. She wants to keep it and use it for now. She gets very few luxuries, as her husband is a police officer. I refuse to pay enormous prices to impress others. I would rather use that 200-500.00 for something I enjoy.

Not everyone pays enormous prices for a handbag just to impress others. Many women happily put down a few hundred dollars for a handbag because it's something they can enjoy.

I'm trying to support those poor children, otherwise they'd just be abused in some factory making stuff for WalMart. Do you really think any of this cheap Chinese stuff we buy provides a decent living for those poor saps in China? <insert rant against china trade here>

The "status symbol" was the little leather coach tag that snapped on the strap. That was before they started putting their initial all over the bag.

Sale is a go in Round Rock/Austin TX. Store was packed, ridiculous prices! It is Chelsea Premium Outlet....
I was at the Leesburg outlet on Sunday and they did have some mid- and large-sized all leather totes with the price marked down and then 30% off on top of that. I also seem to remember other small all leather bags at 20% off. Most everything in that store had some kind of discount. Each store has different discounts & stock it seems.
Btw, thanks OP for the heads up. I made two laps trying to talk myself _into_ buying more but just couldn't come up with justification for it other than one of those cute small twill&leather purses.

I think the economy has really tanked, especially for high end retailers. I would expect to see deep cuts in prices of things like coach, abercrombie, north face, etc.
I had one of the leather purses with the tag on the handle, it was a great bag!! It was not yet moved out of my closet when my ex changed the locks on our house during our divorce, have never managed to get it back. Oh well, the camera bag I got in a recent deal on here made up for it... all leather, Coach, without being too ostentatious!

I think it was Lacoste who started all the conspicuous consumption, and with so many people not knowing how to spell or write, Coach just wanted to help the illiterate idiots who spend $300+ on a purse by advertising "C" on some of its lines.
