UPDATE: ** Sorry, I just read the rebate and it says IN STORE PURCHASES ONLY. INCLUDING ORDERS FOR IN STORE PICKUP. 'Course, you could return and re-ring I guess.

Still, Free or Make $15 if you can wrangle it.

1 rebate per household.

It was marked down to $4.99 at the Sugarland, TX store on Highway 6, with a $20 mail in rebate that as far as I can see, is not limited to the purchase price. Still, I bought it because $5 or free for this neat little player is probably worth it.

Link to MP-C741 at OD online

Online it would be nearly free after the rebate.

Rebate prints at the register.

Reviews on pricegrabber were suprisingly good.

review: 4 out of 5 stars , 10 reviews

Mounts as a drive with no drivers, works with Mac OS X and probably numerous other OS's as well.

Also got a Maxell Airline Adapter that lets you plug in a regular pair of headphones to those dual airplane plugs for $1.

Neat features: it records from FM and also has a voice activated record mode. You can adjust the quality and get some long voice activated record times. Cheap bugging device. Think it only records to internal, but still.

www.theroblog.com - I'll post any lengthy data I find here.

As stated, my rebate printed at the register, so sorry I can't help.

I forgot to mention it IS an Office Depot rebate, going to El Paso, TX.

I looked in the OD rebate center with SKU and the Rebate ID of 01008791 and came up blank.

I suppose when you get to the store you could return and re-ring.

Rebate is good until 5/24/08.

The offer # is OD6402274.

I couldn't find it, and the one linked to over at SD is dead.

I apparently can't link to the Slic k Dealz thread. Forbidden words. The PDF rebate there ended 3/29/08.

And for those who don't already know, if you go for in-store pickup, you must pay for the item ahead of time with a credit card or gift card in order for it to be held. Choosing cash will not work. They do not hold items in which cash is selected. I've seen lots of people miss out on deals because they thought they could have something held, and then pay for it at the store. Pay NOW, and then you'll get the product.

I played mp3's off a 1 gig but it was already there and formatted. I read on SD of someone using a 2 gig.

I even made a little post on my blog with some tips and a mini review on this one. Nice little unit! Won't bore you withe the details here.

Someone let me know what firmware they get, I already upgraded mine. Just curious.

I got one of these a month or so back, FAR. Ready to sell it, as even though i was impressed with the player itself and the fact that it has a slot for more capcitiy, it drains batteries with-in a day and has no jack for adapter.

Until what date is the rebate valid? The copy in SD ended in march..
