The AT&T "stand" at my local Sam's (St. Louis) is offering free Blackberry Pearl phones with a 2 year contract, no data plan necessary. Not sure if it's nationwide or not, just want to make people aware.

Is data plan required?
only tilt is interesting to me and only tilt is oos.

alert mods

yes, data plan required at purchase. but u can always drop it after getting the phone.
there's no contract as some 3rd parties charge back (like Amazon's 6 months policy...)

as far as what i check, tilt is still in stock at my zip 38125.

I would never have thought to post this as a hot deal. You can get NEW phones with no data plan requirements from them anyways for signing up or extending a contract.

AT&T is letting me check out with a $149 refurbished Tilt even though I am not eligible for an upgrade yet. What gives?

I received my tilt with a new contract/service. On my 4th try with a nice csr I was able to add this to my family plan. I had five phones already, so I needed to cancel one of my lines to make room for the new number. But hey a free tilt? not bad thanks att.

I have not even received a confirmation e-mail yet and it's been 24 hours. I did get an order number, but have no idea how to track it.
