Got mine in the mail the other day, installed it in my RSX in about 15 minutes. I called them up and said that the car audio place near my house was offering free HD Tuner installation with the return of a satellite radio receiver. I said that I was a little apprehensive about the monthly fees, but wanted to give it a shot. I asked him to waive the activation, I already turned down the 2 year contract initially offered to me, but he said that if I did a 1 year contract he'd waive the fee. We settled on him taking the $30 GC and I'll get 2 bills for $50. Which works out well, because I just got my $50 BB GC from the Ford test drive and I'll use the 12% off BB coupon to get a Sirius gift card w/ my BB GC. So I'll end up paying $50 out of my pocket for 1 year of Sirius and getting the receiver for free. You honestly can't complain about that because Sirius friggin rocks, almost as much as fatwallet. I'm outta here, Tokin Tuesdays should be starting on Shade 45 soon....

thanks fw , awesome deal.

thanks OP, finally gave up and decided to try to make $3.99 on this deal

worked great

got free shipping, and hopefully i will see the 4 bucks in fatcashola,

next step is to 'argue' with CS to wave the activation, and get my month to month

Now, i guess i will send one to my office to get an extra cradle, in case i like sirius

THANKS AGAIN FWers!!!!

**** EDIT ****
This has been taken.
Others who want to just activate for one month may want to pool their radios together and have just one person activate. I think it will take not much longer to activate several radios versus just one radio over phone. Then the person activating keeps the remainder of all the $30 cards.
**** EDIT ****

Anyone want the remainder of my $30 card?

1) Send me a private message.

2) I pm you my radio's SID.

3) You activate on your account.

4) I PM you the PIN of my $30 card to add to your account.

5) You cancel my radio whenever you like. You might give me a couple weeks to try it.

I just got it for another piece of junk to take apart and the FatCash and was hoping the $30 was going to be spendable anywhere.

It goes to the first to activate it as it needs to be on for me to verify that it has been activated and I don't want to sit here for a long time listening to that goofy test channel.

If you want to activate it right away then I'll send you the radio SID and turn the radio on.

I'd like to also note here, that for those who got in on the $4.99 sirius one deal at Circuit City, the remote and antenna both work for this unit. I happened to test the remote the other day and it works without any problems.

Don't forget that if you are a subscriber to Sirius, you can also listen online instead of having to take the radio inside.

At rileymartin's suggestion I'm posting what I found inside the radio so far.

The button switches are not the solder on kind I hoped they would be. The are just a disk of metal taped on to the circuit board.

There is a receiver for the remote control and the bezel for it is a cool violet/purple color instead of red like I have seen in TV's and other devices.

There are two places where connectors might be soldered on for programming or something.

JP1 has 6 pins labeled RESET, SCLK, (two pins, one or both marked +), MISO, MOSI. Looks like an SPI Connector.

JP2 has 4 pins labeled TX, (two pins, one or both marked +), RX. It also has two larger solder areas on both sides of the pins labeled GND. There is an arrow coming off of pin 1 (TX) that points to the text "3V3_MAIN".

There are 5 test points in the top middle of the board marked 3V#_BB, TDI, TMS, TCK, TDO
U1 is an Atmel Mega32L

U4 is marked 8727GED 77ARR6X

U5 is marked 1010 A269 731

U6 is an RT9167A low dropout and low noise micropower regulator

U13 is an STA240AE Channel & Source Decoder

U14 is a Spansion AL016D70BF102 which may be in the S71AL016D family

U15 is marked 0732PPR V54C3128804VBJ7IPC

U16 is an Atmel AT8UA1068. It has the Sirius dog logo so it is probably a custom chip.

U23 is an STA210 RF Front-End

The LCD is a Varitronix COG-IZT2202-01. COG means "chip on glass". It has a 20 pin connector. The first line has smaller pixels than the last two lines. Each of the three lines are made of 16 5x7 pixel characters.

In addition to the LEDs in the LCD display, there are ten amber surface mount LEDs to light the buttons.

I sure hope the audio quality on the pay channels is LOTS better than the quality of channel 184 as it is FAR from hi fidelity sound.

so how successful have waiving activations been? Any foolproof excuses to get out of it? Should I approach it for the fact I just want to try it and am very concerned about the sound quality? Or, is waiving the activation luck of the draw. Are evening csr's better?

DEAD!

Ordered it last week and still no email/box/anything. Just got off the phone w/ store customer service and they said "this link was posted illegally on a website and some people ordered like 30 of these, so corporate stopped shipping this deal". Also told me there is a 99% chance my order will never ship.

FM has become very usefull to me. My sirius has some high pitch noise at the AUX, which doesn't show up at FM.

alert mods

the fm didnt work good for me, kept fading in and out. I tried relocating
the transmitter antenna a few times. I decided to just hook directly
up to the cassette deck like I do with the ipod, and end of problems
